25/5 strike/ball ratio. Detriot can't sit around and wait. Hopefully, he can stay out of the middle of the zone, we should be in good shape.

Damn, Pomeranz with 51 pitches through 5 and now the rain delay... Pitching great.

They should send Ross out with the intention of pitching him four innings. This is the exact situation when having a good long reliever needs to be used as an advantage. Most of my life, the Red Sox have had the Kyle Snyder's of the world in this role. Ross is good and can go multiple innings and keep this from being another bullpen disaster.
He'll probably come out for the sixth and give up 15 runs now.

Him sitting for like half an hour vs SF them giving 5 runs without getting somebody out still gives nightmares.

Removing that 4th inning performance versus San Francisco, Pomeranz has thrown 38.1 innings for the Sox with a 3.33 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP (31 H, 35 K, 13 BB, 13 ER). Not too shabby... MUCH better than popular alternatives Wade Miley (18 ER in 17 IP) and Rich Hill, who has yet to throw a pitch for the Dodgers...

Imagine a fantasy-world, where an ultra-rested Craig Kimbrel can come in the game for an extra 1 or 2 outs when his team most needed it.

Can't walk James McCann with the Tigers' top of the lineup around the corner. Yikes. Bad job.
Does Kimbrel lurk? Lol, no.

You have to have a plan for the Tigers' heart of the order.

JF... 4 outs does not agree with Mr. Kimbrel... Kimbrel last pitched on Tuesday. A closer HAS to be able to get four outs. Otherwise it makes the job of the manager very difficult. EDIT: That first out only taking two pitches has to help.

I'm feeling much more comfortable now that he got the quick out on Cabrera... but still having PTSD from his earlier multi-inning implosions.

JF... 4 outs does not agree with Mr. Kimbrel... He's going to have to learn sometime. Any successful playoff team is going to call on their closer multiple times in non-ideal scenarios.

You might WANT him to "learn" sometime, but that does not mean he will ever be good at it. Just because Kimbril is labeled a closer and some closers can pitch multiple innings, does not mean Kimbril can.
