Odd play: Rafael Devers singles on a ground ball to right fielder Jeffrey Baez. Joseph Monge scores. Luis Alexander Basabe out at 2nd, right fielder Jeffrey Baez to second baseman Bryant Flete. My guess is it looked like he might catch it so Basabe had to hold up near first so as to not get doubled-up. You'd rather stay too close to first and get thrown out at second than go too far and get doubled-up. Could also be that the RF caught him rounding second.

I believe if he was beaten to the bag by the right fielder, Devers would have had a fielder's choice, not a single, even though it went to right field.
