I hope Bundy is still having PTSD from the last beat down we gave him. It would be nice to own a little real estate in his head.

No Miley and Red Sox nemesis Tilman this time to go along with Gausman. Two wins are essential.

Hoping Mookie goes on one of his barrages at Camden. Seal the division and the MVP.

I'm going Wednesday, feel like that's the worst one to go to, but oh well ... maybe TBA will get a thrashing from the Sox.

TBA is either Gallardo (on an extra day like Bundy and Gausman) or Jimenez (on regular rest like Tillman).
Strength of Schedule for various remaining AL contenders. This is based 90% on BaseRuns (hitting and pitching stats) and 10% on results. First column is raw, third adjusts for number of home games. Then the team's own quality, and finally, projected wins.
Because of their pitching injuries, the Indians are likely to fall short of their projection, while the teams playing them (KC 6 times, Det 4) are likely to do better. I like our chances of picking up the missing game.

Right now, it looks like Toronto could be eliminated before the final series.

Tough series, wouldn't mind a split.

1 gm behind Cleveland for home field in 1st round. Sox win tie-breaker based on head to head. Would allow Porcello to pitch 2 home games if needed.

A split would be awesome.
I hope we extend the division lead so we can give guys some days off down the stretch.

Applying the knockout blow to the Yankees was huge yesterday.
So now the Sox only need to split to be in really good shape. If the Sox go up 2 games to 1 in the series with what looks like on paper to be a mismatch with Price going against Jimenez (I think?), then they have a great shot at taking 3 games and basically ending the AL East race as Baltimore would be 5 games out and Toronto most likely would be about the same - all with 9 games left.
Ideally beating the Yankees in New York to clinch the division and have a celebration there (their first since 04) would be a blast and render the Toronto series meaningless and guys like Betts, Bradley, and Bogaerts could get some very much needed rest.

I expect Showalter to walk Hanley at every opportunity in this series. His OPS will go from 1.963 that it was against NY to 1.000. Someone else will have to step up.

Walk hanley with the bases empty is not that bad. He has Mookie batting before him you know what he does in that park.

All they need to do is avoid getting swept. Should be cake with the talent on the roster. Ideally you win 3 or 4 and spend the next couple weeks lining up the pitching rotation and getting positiion players rest.

Seeing as we've reeled in CLE, being only 1 GB, is there any value to press for the extra Home game, or not so much, esp considering their respective schedules, RoS?
(as an aside, anyone lend a hand on the recent 108 Stitches link to June hitting adj by Hanley?...I've deleted that email, and can't find the thread here, I saw that in)

I'd have JBJ ahead of Xander.
Hanley is slugging .639 in the 2nd half.

I'd have JBJ ahead of Xander. Hanley is slugging .639 in the 2nd half. I see your logic, but sometimes it's good to have that second "cleanup hitter" lower in the lineup. Not your prototypical power hitter but has 60 or so extra base hits. Plus when guys like Chris Young and Sandy getting on base in front of him... At this point I'd like to see Leon get more rest as well as Bogey and Pedey getting some days off. The bench for this team is a strength.

WC Teams For a while I had been cheering for the Red Sox to catch Texas but now that I think about it, I would rather play Cleveland first round than either of the Wild Card winners.

Texas and Cleveland are both currently worse than the Orioles probably. Red Sox have such a relatively easy road to the World Series if they can avoid injury and just play .500 ball the rest of the regular season. Cleveland is falling apart to injury and Texas has a +8 run differential on the season. I wouldn't sell out for more wins to secure an extra home game in the ALCS at the expense of rest for key players. Things are lining up really well for Boston right now.
