I think the Rays and major league would be best served to move to bigger market. The organization is a good one and needs more resources and fan support to work with. We have already scene that the fans.
A new owner would be needed with deep pockets. Since they would have to pay the Red Sox a billion dollars to waive their territorial rights. Givening NESN the rights to their games would be another option. But that could get messy like with what happened in Balt/Washington.
I would move the Rays to the National League with Miami moving to the AL.
While the Sox would have the clear advantage in fan support in the beginning. The market is big enough for two major league teams. The Rays would have much better fan support than they would in TB. The fact they are not that far off from being a good team again would also help. As a plus it would set up a great interleague rivalery. That would be much better than Philly being our natural rival.

I just don't see that working. Red Sox fans are die hards. I just don't see people in Massachusetts supporting another team. Maybe in the long run, but it would take decades if it was to ever happen. Boston is still a rather small city compared to New York. I have to think there would be a better city to move that team to, though I haven't even looked.
