I thought it would go to Kluber or Verlander but Porcello had a outstanding season. After his rough year in 2015, it was nice to see him bounce back even better then what I hoped and expected. Anyways, congratulations Rick!

Nice, Rick had a fantastic season and I wasn't a believer in him but he converted me. Don't let up next season.

Well one writer placed Percello fifth behind two relievers. Verlander needed those two writers to give him a third and a fourth place vote to tie Porcello... so leaving him off the ballot (which is wrong) did not cost him the Cy Young.

Kate Upton is a classy women. In what world is that okay to say? No matter how good looking you are, that's trashy.
Congrats Porcello.

Stay classless Kate Upton. Congrats Rick Porcello! Fantastic season. Meanwhile Ben Cherington is looking smarter and smarter.
They were looking for an up and coming ace who wasn't necessarily obvious and Cherington found one although it took a tough year to get there.

Just to let you know Kate Upton, the writers are only making up a little what they owe to the Red Sox organization.
Your fiance or whatever (in Verlander) won the MVP award in 2011 when he shouldn't have when the award and took away the award to the more deserving Red Sox player in Ellsbury. Ohh and I'm still waiting on the writers to give Pedro his MVP award in which he dominated the sport like Verlander didn't quite do in 2011.

Kate Upton is was a classy women. She's means nothing to me now. A year later,Stevie Ray Vaughan died on the way to that venue. For reference: Jimmy Vaughan, Art Neville, Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, B.B. King, Robert Cray & Dr. John. Who died and made Kate Upton's opinion relevant ? Congrats Rick , great year.

Here is the link the official vote totals, as well as the individual ballots, if anyone is interested: bbwaa.com/16-al-cy/I find it strange that Britton received more first place votes than Kluber.

Britton got five more first place votes for Cy Young than he did pitches in the playoffs.
EDIT: Maybe patting myself on the back is unseemly, but I'd been very bullish on Porcello for years, probably back to 2011. He had a great collection of tools - ability to get swings and misses, good command, excellent control, and ability to generate ground balls on contact. It's always cool to see a pitcher who gradually puts everything together like he has. Prodigies like Felix and Kershaw are wonderful, sure, but gradual improvements of someone like Porcello are part of what makes being a baseball fan so rewarding. So, while I'd argued that I'd probably have given Kluber the award if I had a vote, I'm pretty ecstatic about this.
He is also, to me, the ultimate cautionary tale against rushing a prospect - the immediate gains are really, really unlikely to outweigh what a talented player is likely to be doing 7-8 years out. It took Porcello three years to get good and seven to become great.

It was both of Tampa's writers who left Verlander off if you're trying to figure it out from that list.

Miller showed that a RP can be MVP in the playoffs, but RPs can't be used like that in the regular season for durability reasons, so there's really no chance that a reliever ever comes close in value to the top starters in the league. Britton had an insane year, but I don't think he deserved Cy Young consideration over the finalists.
