We have Bradley, they have rosenthals.
Sounds like the beginning of a win win for both teams.

If we are talking Alex Reyes or Carlos Martinez, then I'm in too.
I'm not into taking a chance on Rosenthal for the cost of JBJ. Rosenthal is supposed to starting in spring training this year but he has no track record as a starter. If he's only a closer then no way does that trade makes sense.

Id love for the Sox to get Reyes, but I really don't see the Cards parting with him. He was awesome this year, especially in high-leverage relief. He's got "future ace" written all over him. Rosenthal was just plain bad, with a truly awful BB rate. He's also really a two-pitch pitcher. He's got no slider/curve, just FB/CH (and a cutter, at times). Big arm, but huge questions as to his ability to start. I'm not giving up an All-Star CF for a guy who might not crack the rotation. That's a Joe Kelly deal waiting to happen again. Now if you're talking Rosenthal and one of the other two (Martinez is terrific, nice repertoire, young, history of success), absolutely. I certainly like the idea of getting a young starter with 1 upside. I think I mentioned a JBJ-Martinez deal elsewhere. It makes sense for both teams, allowing the Sox to trade Buchholz (when the FA pool is terrible and his contract is very team-friendly, giving him inflated value) and keep Wright as depth. Come July, if Pomeranz has pitched well, he could be flipped and Wright goes into the rotation, with Kopech hopefully knocking on the door. Or, if the Cards want to keep the established guy in Martinez and do Reyes-Rosenthal for JBJ+, I'd be all for it.

As constituted, the Cards have Wainright (looks to be declining badly), Martinez (young, awesome), Leake (who they're stuck with), Reyes (very young, very awesome), Lynn (previously very good, but a huge question mark coming off of injury), Wacha (solid but injury-prone). They just traded Garcia for...meh. Supposedly, Rosenthal's getting a chance to start in ST. So that's seven starters. I'm not sure that, with all of those questions, they trade a starter (despite the numbers) that they probably see as being their "true" 1 (Martinez) or potentially one of their top-3 in 2017 and 1/2 beyond (Reyes). But again, if they were willing to take a big risk and do a JBJ-Johnson-Elias for Reyes or Martinez, and Rosenthal, I'd jump on it.
