Yankees looking very sloppy in the early going. Good news for Yankees fans. Tanaka's xFIP is only 5.64, way better than his ERA.

I know most people didn't pay any attention to Padres camp, but has anyone heard about what they're doing with Christian Bethancourt? The former top catching prospect of the Braves was informed the other day that he made the San Diego bullpen. He's not the first strong armed catcher to be converted, but it sounds like he will also be used as a utility player, still catching and playing some corner outfield.
Also, NYY have the worst record in MLB.

Great first game for Lovullo and Hazen with Arizona, they get a walkoff win.

Great first game for Lovullo and Hazen with Arizona, they get a walkoff win. Also pretty awesome for the MLB home-run leader who nonetheless can't get the win with his bullpen blowing two saves in the game. Bumgarner is a beast!

Not sure where to put this but are we doing a 2017 draft thread? Guys are about a month into conference play and we should start seeing more rankings coming soon. I always enjoy that thread as a one stop way to keep up with the amateur seasons.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like there's an extra amount of teams around baseball who are just absolutely loaded this year. In no particular order:
Red Sox Mets Cubs Dodgers Nationals Indians Rangers
All these teams seem to have a lot of talent with very little weaknesses and are legit ws contenders. Then there's also teams like Houston and San Francisco, who in my opinion are a tier below but have a legit chance as well. Should be some good quality ball this year.

I feel like these things have a way of sorting themselves out. Injuries, slumps, etc.

Shaw is off to a nice start for the brewers. I could see him being just like last year, starting off hot and then tanking the rest of the season.

He's got better full season projections than Mooreland or Sandoval so there's that.

I sometimes think that is very easy to make early opinions on projections and/or conjectures

Just to clarify, I meant it's possible that he has a similar season to last year. I'm not wishing for him to be bad. I'd love to see him succeed in Milwuake, just as I hope Thornburg eventually performs in Boston.

This reminded me of Laremy Tunsil. His prospect status for last year's NFL draft plummeted after a video came out of him smoking weed out of a gas mask, and he potentially lost millions over it. Obviously this is a totally different situation, but how could a young athlete be dumb enough to allow themself to be videotaped while doing something that is illegal?

Old home week. Strickland pitching to Hazelbaker out in Phoenix... and the latter wins the duel, lining a single into center and driving in a run w/2 outs on a 2-2 pitch.

Could sell again and get major payouts out for Tanaka, Betances and even decent prospects for Holliday, Clippard, Gardner, and Castro.

Clay Buchholz apparently left the Phillies game with the trainer in the third inning. I didn't hear the specifics of what the injury might be. I feel bad for the Phillies, much worse for Clay, but it's good that he's not on the team I root for.

He gave up 6 runs in 2.1 innings, didn't look good at all.

It looked like a win when the Sox cleared all of his salary actually.
