A little more detail: Qiang signed for $10k and is going by Justin (which I believe someone had said already).

I thought Pedro wanted his son to be left alone and go to school. I figured the Sox honored his wishes.

Mark me down as rooting for the Sox to get major league contributions out of the kid named Joe Elvis.

Two more signings I haven't seen here:
Venezuelan lefty Felix Gomez and Dominican righthander Miguel Suero back in September per the official transactions page.

As the horror of what happened to Flores sets in, you have to ask: what next? Are there any options for the Sox to get their credit back for the bonus pool? Obviously the money they gave to Flores is not coming back (his family gets that, right? I really hope so). But giving the Sox at least a portion of the 3.1 mil isn’t unreasonable to ask for. Is there a precedent for this? I hope no team has had to deal with this issue, but does something like a hardship exception exist? MLB Pipeline says the 6, 8, 11, 24, 25, and 29 ranked international free agents are still available. I’m sure some of those guys have handshake deals or something similar with other teams, but if you’re the Sox shouldn’t you try and move forward in terms of 2017-18 International Free Agency?

I wonder if there's some kind of Ohtani motive parked in there somewhere. I realize it is mentioned, but seems like a crappy way to get money back.

You could also argue though that since he is giving up so much, every little bit he can get now means that much more.

In the Staff Forum, I literally just joked that at least they have different first names this time. Had no idea their names were just inverted.
I'm going to posit that they come from a very religious family.

Checking the Sox prospects transaction column and I see the Sox signed Gamaliel Gonzalez who was a international free agent. The only information that I can find on a Gamaliel Gonzalez was one that pitched a combined no-hitter for the Venezuelan 12u team. Has anyone seen or heard anything about Gonzalez I couldn't find anything

Worth googling but be more surprised if you find something than if you don't.
