Do we really not have a thread for this already?? Couldn't find it.
Anyway, there is some buzz around the Bruins both on the ice (3-0 after Cassidy replaced Julien) and off. Joe Sakic (Colorado GM) was at the B's game last night and, according to Fluto Shinzawa, spent all of the 2nd period talking to Sweeney.
This morning, Jimmy Murphy, in a modern day version of "I know a guy, who knows a guy . . ." retweeted someone who tweeted that a former NHL coach says Boston and Colorado are close to a deal.
The speculation is that it is Landeskog. There had been talks earlier in the year with Sweeney holding firm on not including Carlo. Some of the morning speculation wonders if Sweeney might relent if Cassidy wants to play a style of D that Carlo wouldn't fit into as well as he did in Claude's. Stay tuned.

Wow! After being fired by the Bruins, Claude Julien was just hired by the Canadiens (after they fired Therien).

It's hard to watch the Bruins and not wonder why Pasternak and Seguin aren't skating together.

That call with about 2 and 1 half minutes left in the game for goalie interference is god awful. How do you make that call? The B's backed them selves into a corner but at least they are fighting there way out. They need every point they can get.

I just can't get a handle on this team. They start to put something together and then they lay an egg. I also don't think they are positioned to do much damage in the playoffs so it's kinda like "Okay, good game. But now what?"
I'm excited about the next generation. Was fed a good source for prospect news who indicated that Senyshyn, JFK, DeBrusk, Bjork (need to sign him before draft, I believe) and maybe Frederick are all Top 2 line forward prospects and McAvoy, Zboril and Lauzon are all Top 2 pairing prospects. Also thinks McIntyre will be very good.
Add to Carlo and Pastrnak and that's a future to look forward to (though I would think it's even harder to project an NHL prospects contributions to your team than other sports).
I'm not how to handle the present though. Tuukka is still great. Other good-to-excellent core pieces (were they injured this year, tuning CJ out or just getting old).
I mostly don't post bc I really don't have a sense of what they are going to do (or even an opinion on what they SHOULD do).

Bs back in control after looking like they'd choke again.
Also, after getting top prospect Charlie McAvoy to sign an ATO and begin his career in Providence, Bruins signed Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson to a 3 year ELC. He's expected to be in Boston.
Hoping they get Notre Dame stud winger signed after his season is over. If they don't by the draft, I believe he becomes a free agent.

Bruins lost in SO and Krug left on crutches. Time for Charlie Mac?

Wasn't there something about not wanting to burn a year of his contract for a 'cameo' this season? I don't follow hockey nearly as much as the other sports. (I'm still annoyed at the Seguin/Hamilton trades, primarily.)

There had been rumors that burning that year was part of what convinced him to sign but Neely, supposedly, said there is no plan to bring him up.

With Carlo hurt as well, looks like plans have changed. McAvoy signed his ELC and is practicing with the NHL club.
Still negotiating with Bjork. He could help the club too.

So McAvoy is skating on the first line with Chara... kid better be a stud because they've set expectations so high...

At the same time, who better to help him make up for his mistakes? The original practice pairing of him and JML made ZERO sense.
Good luck to him. I don't have very high expectations for him OR the B's but will watch and cheer 'em on as always.

This 1-3-1 trap thing is a stupid gimmick that can work in the regular season. And they can frustrate teams in the middle of a season. The Bruins will win this series in 5 games!

McAvoy now said to be paired with Miller though that could be changed quickly per Cassidy.

Bruins win Game 1. MacAvoy played 24 mins, +1 made key plays on the game winning goal.
Nice start for both the kid and the Bs.
