Really the way I look at it, the championship in 2018 erases everything that happened with Lester. There is no point in talking about it anymore. They already admitted it was a mistake which indicates that they will NOT be doing it again so there is no point in going over it again and again and again. Let's talk about Trey Ball instead. The people that repeat mistakes are the ones that don't even acknowledge that they were mistakes to begin with. Nah, Trey Ball is boring. I'd prefer to talk about Bagwell for Andersen, Cater for Lyle, and selling Babe Ruth. Yeah! Stuff that we can correct and change history. 😇

Ryan Pressly just got a two year 17.5 million dollar extension with the Astros. Not bad for a bit of a surprise Rule 5 pick, who was expected to not stick with the Twins.

Okay, technically he isn't a former sox yet, but when does Craig Kimbrel need to sign with someone by for us to get a comp pick?

I don't think Kimbrel will hold out through June MLBD but I suppose it could happen if Atl or Milw feel they can't hurt their draft. It's what a 2nd rd. sandwich pick?
He could have taken the 1-year AAV but now a prorated 1-year deal is a possibility but ... I still think he'll get a job this week.

We're talking about a pick that follows the 4th round. I'm not losing sleep over it.

It's normally after the 2nd round if they sign a contract over $50M with the new CBA. But it's dropped to the 4th for the Red Sox because of their 2018 team payroll.

Meaning all our comp picks will be 4th rounders for the foreseeable future. The good news is the extra cap money, however small, should allow us to draft and sign more Howlett/Northcut types.

Former Red Sox prospect Javier Guerra moved to pitcher. He is throwng 96 to 100.
Kyle Glaser Verified account @kyleaglaser 1h1 hour ago More Can confirm @madfriars report that Padres prospect Javier Guerra is converting from SS to pitcher. Guerra was 96-100 over the plate in his first bullpen, touching triple-digits multiple times. Was the Padres No. 1 prospect entering 2016 but the bat never came around

Man Guerra was a pet favorite of mine. Loved following him that year where he showed real promise as a power hitting, plus defensive SS.

Wow. Poor kid. Maybe this really does put into perspective the deal. I have to think Dombrowski and the Padres both knew what they were getting and trading. He was my favorite prospect at the time and I remember how angry I was when they traded him.

Mitchell Osnowitz, in the Sox system in 2017, just made his first appearance since undergoing Tommy John surgery. He has a blog that's more of a personal journal but is a fascinating window into what it's like to be in the minors, day-to-day.

I just read on MLBtraderumors.com that Shaun Anderson is being called up to pitch for the SF Giants. I believe he was the pitcher the Red Sox traded to obtain Eduardo Nunez.

Looked up Ty Buttrey out of curiosity.
19 G, 21.0 IP, 26 K, 3 BB, 0.86 ERA, and a comically high 515 OPS+

There isn't even a hint of it. Since this is North Carolina and Marines are big there, it makes me think he might be a Dem.

Seems like a candidate with his feet on the ground and pointed in the right direction. Definitely doesn't sound like an extremist in either direction.
