What a weird amalgamation of Red Sox history...

Manuel Margot is hitting .274/.384/.516 since June 14th. Maybe just a hot streak, but he still hasn't turned 25 - certainly not too old for a breakout.

Negron traded to the Dodgers Kris Negron, major league ballplayer. No one can ever say he wasn't.

I forget. As a dfa, Thornburg takes his Sox salary with him. When he signed with the blue crew, does responsibility for his salary move to the Dodgers? It’s not much at this point but it could help vs the cap.

Hard to imagine for the highest payroll in baseball that c. $200K could help at the trade deadline, but it might. Irony rules.

A person named David Epstein has just written a book, blurbed by Malcolm Gladwell, called “Range.”

Tyler Hill likes being back in affiliated ball (in his hometown no less).

Went to meet my buddy at the Doyers game yesterday, but didn't get to Chavez Ravine until the third inning. Asked him to catch me up the action. "Up 1-nothing on a solo dinger from Muncy last inning. Two outs here, with Martin on second. Looks like they're intentionally walking Turner to get to this new guy Negron." When I looked up at the scoreboard and saw Kristopher Negron I let out a little surprised yelp "Kris Negron"? My buddy was like, "Guy looks pretty good so far." He then preceded to drive in Martin. Made me smile. Thought about this site. Thought about perseverance. I remember watching him play when we had a team out in Lancaster. That had to be over a decade ago. Can't help but root for some of these AAAA type guys that stick it out, grinding. You hope they one day fall into a good situation. This looks like that. The Doyers seem to really value the versatility of multi-positional players. They've also totally run away with the division and will probably be resting players quite a bit. To paraphrase the great Vin Scully, "A story, which in a in a sense, reminds you what it takes to be a big league ball player. The moral of the whole story of the rabbit and the snake is you've got to somehow survive. You've got to somehow battle back. A lesson for all of us." Way to go Negron. Keep it up.

You can't go wrong on any topic when you post a video narrated by Vin Scully.

Dubon did get into two games with Milwaukee, of course, but I am sure it's that much more special to be with the Giants.

Gabe Speier's contract was purchased by the Royals.
I was fairly certain he'd retired but I think I was confusing him with Josh Pennington.

MLB Pipeline @mlbpipeline ·
Rookie in his 9th #MLB game facing the best pitcher of the generation in a big rivalry game? Mauricio Dubon is up to the task.
The #SFGiants prospect has 740 feet 📏 worth of hits against Clayton Kershaw tonight -- a double off the wall & his second big league homer.
