Old friend Esteban Quiroz is now a major leaguer. Was surprised to see that he had never got a cup of coffee before.

Anyone know what to make of recent news about a "disgruntled" Sox clubhouse, due to front office decisions and the timing of those decisions? It was a whisper before, but in recent days since the Plawecki DFA, many journalists are latching onto it. Sometimes I can't tell if the media on the beat has an angle on this that they want to highlight for, let's say, disingenuous or otherwise selfish reasons. Sometimes I think it is genuine and, therefore, concerning.
I'm sure this conversation has been brought up before, in years past. I understand or at least empathize with the various complexities of human beings and human emotions when it comes to being a player. I don't think anything nefarious or appalling was done by the front office, but I do also believe in chemistry and the importance of leadership to an extent. In any case, I don't think Plawecki had a future here.
I figured this was the best thread to post this question in, but, technically, Plawecki is not yet a former player.

People keep bringing this up without providing any links and if there's nothing worth linking to then I'm not gonna assume it's anything more than clickbait.
In any case, "team plays poorly so the GM switches out some of the players for other ones" hardly seems like something anyone ought to get their dander up about.

And then there are lots of Tweets from local media and Jared Carrabis and his crew where they go ballistic. Kevin Plawecki was then a guest on Jared Carrabis' podcast today, I'm guessing he didn't say anything juicy.
Red Sox Front Office: Did nothing wrong. There is nothing dishonorable about DFA'ing the guy in pursuit of the organization's best interests. The main argument seems to be that they are stupidly doing a bad job of pursuing the org's best interests by focusing on Plawecki's on the field performance and not him being fun to be around off the field. We'll get a good test of this argument's sway during Kevin Plawecki's upcoming free agency.
PlawDog Player Supporters: Did nothing wrong. Their friend got fired and he might have reached the end of the line. There's nothing objectionable in their public comments. I would guess they had some more pointed criticisms off the record, which is understandable in the heat of the moment.
Media: Maybe take hold of the SANCTIOMY dial and give it about four full leftward revolutions. Everyone can see that players that give access get covered differently than players that don't. Jared Carrabis probably called Hansel Robles human trash on the day he got DFA'ed as he pitched his ass off with a bad back and wasn't getting good results.

Cpl thoughts on the clubhouse and dandruff up over guys maybe getting the boot.. If true..
1st of all? Believe the NE sports media in the 1st place, who have a last place team to write about, rather than a playoff team and are digging, or flat out writing lies from the start? Some are not exactly known for facts 1st to begin with.
Then if any part of the stories ARE true? Just maybe the team should have done a little better. This wasn't a bad team from the start, even with the injuries and many times? Played poorly, did the wrong things at wrong times and seemed to have a individual player 1st approach.. I give Pham hacking away 1st pitch 2nd KC game when Sox had bases loaded, 2nd inning and -0- out and Singer was fighting control. Things like that which bothered me all year about this team as an example.

Charles P. Pierce @charlesppierce Things I did not know until today -- Mike Greenwell, one of my favorite players when I was getting paid to hang around the Red Sox, is one of the county commissioners trying to deal with the destruction in Lee County, Florida.

They have baseball in Pakistan and New zealand and Argentina?
Is there an article about the state of the game in these weirdo countries? I'd be interested.

I'd bring him back as a coach right now.

I'd bring him back as a coach right now. More likely he settles into a semi-regular NESN gig. On the current Red Sox, I'd vote Christian Arroyo as the guy most likely to wind up on a NESN broadcast at some point down the road.

Mike McCarthy will be the bullpen coach for the Oakland A's. He was the pitching coach for San Diego's AAA team last year.

Is anybody on mourning over Franchy Cordero not playing for the Sox anymore?
The Orioles signed him to a split contract which pays him 1.35 million for being a major leaguer and less than 500k for being a minor leaguer.
