This is maybe the tiniest sample size ever, but I think Lin striking out only once in 9 plate appearances tells me that he may be just what we need at 3B at least for the next month. With his speed and what seems to be decent pop, he should be way better than what we have in Rutledge, Pablo and Marrero. And that isn't even saying much.
Marrero should be sent down before Lin. He has a -15 wRC+ and a 38.5% k-rate in June. (not counting his double tonight)
Now did anyone see or hear how Lin looked in the outfield in his few minor league appearances?

Yeah if Lin makes me never see the Perralta/Pablo experiment ever, I'll be perfectly okay with that.

I'll take Marrero over Rutledge as a weak side of a 3rd base platoon, he's been hitting LHP very well and IIRC did that in AAA 2 years ago FWIW. The platoon in LF worked very well in 2013 and I'll take one till Rafa's ready.

(not counting his double tonight) Marrero really can't hit, but there's a good case that his defense and lack of upside make him a better guy to have riding the bench. I'm not sure Lin has the same niche in a bench role (he's not as fast as when he signed, for one thing), and it'd be good to get him regular reps.

Great win/series. Really nice to see Lin have some success. Never would have thought last year that Tsu Wei Lin, Austin Maddox, and Ben Taylor would have all made it to the big club...even temporarily.

So why does it feel like he's hitting better than expected?

Probably because every time he gets a hit feels so unexpected.

If he just covered first base in that inning it would've been a great outing from Price instead he's having a good one. But he's trending in the right direction in terms stuff and control/command and I'm loving it. Read a fangraphs article showing just how awful his control (Z%) of ALL of his secondaries has been. FB has been fine, and he threw at least a few nice cutters and CHs tonight. His velocity is back up to 94 from low-92s last year (and in line with his peak), so maybe he's just getting his secondary feel down. Certainly nice to see him get much better as the game wore on. Not a pretty box score, but a very encouraging start...easy to miss it if you didn't actually watch it happen. www.fangraphs.com/blogs/david-prices-peculiar-problem/

We know or we think we know what Marrero can do. So give Lin the at bats see what he can do. maybe Marrero has a month like Leon did last year.

He sure looked like the second or third fastest guy on the MLB team legging it out from home to 3rd last night.
