Should only be one rehab start for Eduardo Rodriguez, right?
Also I see a Mark Appel sighting in the pitching matchups. I wonder how he's doing after all these years?

Appel went 8 1/3 shutout innings against the PawSox last week. Hasn't been very good in general, though. Only four quality starts in 15 GS.

Appel might be destined for a bullpen role then. I'm sure he still has the velocity for that capacity.
Worked out great for Archie Bradley.

Nice start for the GCL team today: K K K, K K HBP K, K GO K And it's not even like the Rays pitcher is much of a prospect either.

Nice start for the GCL team today: K K K, K K HBP K, K GO K And it's not even like the Rays pitcher is much of a prospect either. He got a six-figure bonus in 2014. His 2015 and 2016 might be the most DSL line I've ever seen, actually: 87 innings, 52 hits, 58 runs (?!), 43 earned, 79 walks, 97 strikeouts.

GCL RS win on a walk-off bases loaded walk in extras. Angel Padron with 10k in 4ip.

Brannen got hit by a pitch and was taken out of the game. Well that's what he gets for signing overslot against this board's wishes.

MILB had Duron earlier today, but now lists Groome.. Groome is indeed the starter, per the Spinners twitter account.

Should only be one rehab start for Eduardo Rodriguez, right? He's getting hit pretty hard right now. Might need another start or two. Hope he feels okay.

Radio says he is throwing fastballs and not ramping up. As long as he is healthy nothing else matters.
He K'd the side in his last inning.

Lots of weird stuff happening in the Lowell game and the bench is going crazy on the ump over squeezing Groome. Mr. Belding called the 2nd inning on the radio.

A Red Sox pitcher needs to get used to being squeezed. It's as much a part of baseball as Yankee pitchers having an extra inch on every side of the strike zone. One reason why John Lester was probably thrilled to leave town.

With 2 doubles tonight, Rafa Devers is second in the Eastern League in SLG% (The guy in front of him is 3 years his senior).

With 2 doubles tonight, Rafa Devers is second in the Eastern League in SLG% (The guy in front of him is 3 years his senior). I still contend that he's their best option at 3b, unless they can find a cast-off who's marginally below-average (1-1.5 WAR over a full season) and costs essentially nothing. It's "rushing" him, but he's produced all year there and has made a quick recent adjustment after a short slump. No sense wasting more prospect depth for a half-season filler who's probably not going to be appreciably better than Devers would be, anyway. Or maybe Lin has a few more deep-RF ropes in him (OK, it should've been caught, but he still ripped it, and he looks above-average to good defensively). But I think the future is now.

When y'all listed the Carolina league all-stars, I didn't even recognize the name Kelley. Looked him up and he certainly fits the profile of a strictly org. arm. What I found a bit interesting was the scouting report suggested that even with his lack of stuff, his sidearm delivery mixed with great command and control could play, at least in the lower minors against right handed batters. "limiting upside. Doesn’t have a pitch to get left-handed hitters out consistently." But then I looked at his split and sss aside, he actually has owned left handed hitters. Would be curious to see if he could have any success in Maine.
