CJ Chatham was removed from the GCL roster. He hadn't played in a couple days so it is unclear if he is headed back to Greenville or reaggravated his injury.

Alex Speier @alexspeier
Within notebook: RHP Travis Lakins has a (likely) season-ending stress fracture in his elbow for 2nd straight year

I would imagine they would like to take him slowly if this injury is a trend I'd say he's likely to be back in Portland, yes. He's only at 30 1/3 innings at Double-A since his promotion in May, so I'm not even sure I'd necessarily really consider it repeating the level in the traditional sense.

Looks like Beau Hanna and Carlos Pulido were both placed on the 60-day DL.

I'm unfamiliar with how hamstring injuries are dealt with. If he did reaggravate it again (knock on wood, fingers crossed he's going back to Greenville), at what point do they try to fix it surgically? Is that even an option?

Salem game has an interesting matchup. Shawaryn vs Dane Dunning. White Sox 1st rounder from 2016.

A little bit like Shawaryn, he did that Matt Barnes thing we've seen a bunch of times now where a college pitcher dominates in a conservative placement in Low A and then High A proves to be a more appropriate challenge. Dunning was even less tested by the SAL though - 26 innings, 1 ER, 33 K, 2 BB in Kannapolis in four starts before the Sox decided that was kinda silly. I like him.

So in other words, that rotation was so good, that two relievers have been converted to starters in pro ball and have handled themselves quite well.

Looks like Beau Hanna and Carlos Pulido were both placed on the 60-day DL. Hanna is likely moved off the catcher position for left field or first base correct? I believe I remember reading that about him during the draft. Lots of power for a high school kid.

I believe I remember reading that about him during the draft. Lots of power for a high school kid. Long-term? Probably. A sampling of pre-draft reports on him seemed to be pretty low on his longterm potential at the catcher position. More recent reports (see quote below) are a little more optimistic, so its possible his D improved this past season and the Sox saw enough to at least give him a chance to continue improving at the position.

Same thing pretty much last year when they had his wrist in one of those removable casts in ft Myers after he was drafted for much of the time he was there. It had to be affecting he swing. remember he went hitless for along time and hadn't gotten his 1st hit until after we had left.. maybe 15-20 AB's.

Dalbec in a serious rut right now. He's struck out in 7 straight at bats.

Looks like Ockimey is coming out of it. Not a good night for the upper echelon...good for Salem and Greenville, though.

Some notable performances for the farm tonight:
Ockimey: 3-5, HR, BB, 2RBI
Darwinzon Hernandez: 5IP, 3H, 0ER, 1BB, 5K
Lin: 2-4, BB
Devers: 2-5
and finally, Shawaryn got the better of Dane Dunning that pitching matchup. Shawaryn: 5IP, 2H, 2ER, 2BB, 6K. Dunning: 4.2IP, 9H (4HR), 8ER, 1BB, 4K
