Really wish we had a guy with the leadership skills of a guy like votto to wake up the zombies in our lineup. I really wish people would stop thinking that the mere presence of some person is the only thing standing between a slump and a hot streak.

Just saw that AB is batting only .263, Did anyone expect that? I didn't expect it, but I also thought expectations were probably too high. A rookie who has been sped through the minors after one healthy college season? No reason not to expect struggles. I'd argue his numbers are fine, and if there is disappointment, that is because the Sox are counting on him too much. If he's where he is but the stars are where they should be, all would be well.

It would seem that Nunez would be the best base stealing threat the Sox have right now. Would it make sense to lead him off when he's playing, rather than Betts? I still don't really know why Farrell is so intent on having Betts be the leadoff hitter every game. Is that an indicator of how Farrell thinks Betts might not handle batting third or fourth very well? Or does he feel that Betts is more of a Rickey Henderson type? Betts isn't that big of a base stealing threat, and the team really needs more pop in the middle of the lineup, which Betts can do. So why keep batting him leadoff? It would be nice to see Betts, Devers, and Ramirez batting 3-4-5 one day. Or how about Betts, Devers, Bruce, and Ramirez!

Xander's defense has been dreadful in 2017. Just no other way to put that.

Xander's defense has been dreadful in 2017. Just no other way to put that. One wonders how much is injury, how much offensive struggles impacting defense - or vice versa. Whatever, he isn't adding much value at the moment.

Pretty routine inning if the shortstop and pitcher can field their positions.

Bases loaded no outs up 3-1 and Hembree up in the BP. Thats a wrap.

Why does Farrell keep insisting that Barnes is the automatic 8th inning man?
So freaking annoying. Workman threw 7 pitches in the 7th I think?
Yet Barnes absolutely NEEDS to get in this game.

That's just about one of the worst defensive innings imaginable.
The infield defense just collectively ended Michael Chavis' career as a Red Sox.

Starting the inning with an error is a killer.

There's no ending to the ground balls not being outs. That's 4 this inning.

Why? Barnes is a better reliever than Workman and some better defense there and we're on our way to Kimbrel time. Not every move that doesn't work is the manager's fault, sometimes you take the best approach and do the most logical thing and it doesn't work. It happens.

Barnes has cost them 3-4 games in the standing.
