As someone on Twitter just said, the Red Sox could be just a good manager away from being a truly championship level team. Someone has a really short memory. tell us all about that brilliant bullpen decision, then.

i dont like the barnes decision either, but he can't pitch the same guys every game. I just don't know what a manager can do. Some of it is on the players. I mean look at Girardi this weekend. The manager can possibly not pitch the closer we absolutely need in a 4 run game.

Big difference. You have a 1 run lead with 2 innings left and the worst starter on the team going tomorrow. You play it safe tonight go for the win right now and rest guys tomorrow when you are already prepared to lose.

Why pinch run with a 3-0 count? Why not when the count was 0-0?

Why pinch run with a 3-0 count? Why not when the count was 0-0? Why pinch run at all? This game could very well be on the verge of extra innings and Vazquez has 2 of the teams 5 hits tonight.

Why pinch run with a 3-0 count? Why not when the count was 0-0? It completely backfired on Farrell. Go figure, Farrell senses are at it again. He thought JBJ was going to walk.

They may if it a long stretch of games for position players, but he wasn't going to reed and workman on back to back nights. That is the bottom line.

What is the gripe here? That he went to Barnes? The guy's had an really good season and is more rested than Reed. I dunno - I'm pretty critical of Farrell, but this feels like one of those times where the manager is getting blamed for the fact that sometimes the bullpen gives up runs.

Reed has pitched 3 games in a row 3 different times with the Mets this year. All of a sudden he comes to Boston and he can't pitch back to back days in John Farrell's bullpen?

Huh, that's weird. Mookie never hits pop ups in the infield.

It's the splits - Barnes is doing horribly on the road, is nearly lights out at Fenway. Then the real igniter comes in - Hembree...not the two guys you want first in for a huge game like this.

Once again Farrell uses his bullpen backwards....the after game interview is going to be word salad supreme.

In Barnes' last 4 games before tonight he had a 6.75 ERA, 2 BB and 3K. Now, much worse. Then he went to Hembree who was obviously going to allow his runners to score, which one did, instead of Workman, Reed or Kimbrel, who are all much better at this point, in a one run game in the 8th inning.

This game has a 2016 ALDS feel to it: We're hitting ropes right at people and I don't know we may lose on a bloop single.
