I'm sorry. That is dumb. Especially considering if this game goes to extra innings both of those guys are going to have to pitch. But our manager is too dumb to think and plan ahead at all. LOL NOW HE GOES TO WORKMAN!!! You guys are right, if only he had known barnes was going to sh*t the bed. It's pretty common recently.

Someone just ignores every stupid decision Farrell ever makes. I don't. I think the good outweighs the bad, but I don't ignore the por decisions. Besides, I don't think he did anything stupid tonight. The bullpen is worn out and Barnes had stretches of greatness. It happens. They're on the road facing another top team after a huge emotional series against their closest division rival. tell us all about that brilliant bullpen decision, then. Not brilliant, but not too bad either. Guy just didn't execute. No. A short memory would be saying "oh the Red Sox have a great record this year, thus they must have a great manager." Instead, we've watching Farrell butcher in-game decisions for a looooong long time now. It's all a matter of perspective. Now excuse me because I'm way angrier at a single that hits the CF wall, a line-out that's hit hard as hell, a warning track fly and a would have been blooper without an All World defensive play. And the guy that most of you going crazy wanted pitching in the 8th is probably losing this game so yeah talk about irony.

Before tonight - Barnes at home 5-1 1.95 32 IP 8 BB 41K Barnes on the road 1-2 5.20 27 IP 18 BB 25 K
This is not rocket science. This is Farrell being stubborn. Barnes and Hembree in....saves Workman? WTF?
Yet another game thrown away.

Lord.
Zero fundamentals for this team.
They give you an out. You take the out. Instead we throw it away.

What is the gripe here? That he went to Barnes? The guy's had an really good season and is more rested than Reed. I dunno - I'm pretty critical of Farrell, but this feels like one of those times where the manager is getting blamed for the fact that sometimes the bullpen gives up runs. This is bigger than "just another game" due to possible home field implications in the playoffs. You have a lead with six outs to go. I think you have to win or lose with your best guys in there. No guarantee it would have worked, but It's more defensible on Farrell's part. He went with the rested guys instead and it didn't work.

There would have been two strikes if they called the first pitch a strike, which it could not possibly be more obvious. Then that bunt would not have happened.

Great manager. Great fundamentals. Good thing Workman only needed to pitch the 9th in a tie ballgame, instead of a game with a lead.

I dunno - I'm pretty critical of Farrell, but this feels like one of those times where the manager is getting blamed for the fact that sometimes the bullpen gives up runs. In Barnes' last 4 games before tonight he had a 6.75 ERA, 2 BB and 3K. Now, much worse. Then he went to Hembree who was obviously going to allow his runners to score, which one did, instead of Workman, Reed or Kimbrel, who are all much better at this point, in a one run game in the 8th inning. Seriously? If he went to some random reliever in such a high-leverage situation because he'd been good for four games, we'd be killing him, right? Or if he started, like, Deven Marrero at third base because he was 5 for his last 12 or something. Unless something is physically wrong, four games is small-sample garbage. Barnes is the third-best reliever on the team, behind Kimbrel and Reed. Workman's stretch of excellent is 20-something innings. I was on here killing Farrell for the way he managed Saturday's game, as well as the 8/11 loss. I know it's frustrating when a reliever doesn't get the job done, but this isn't on Farrell.

meh, not even that upset... we've so many walkoffs that it was going to come around eventually. Just need to survive Fister's start, somehow.

Speaking of fundamentals, if Vazquez had run out the fly ball that hit the wall he would've been on second. Could've of scored on the next 2 flyouts.

You're really going to defend the use of Hembree with runners on 1st and 2nd and 0 outs in the 8th with Workman, Reed and Kimbrel available? Against a LHB?
