But at least our good bullpen arms will be rested.

When the Astros started off with two dingers it took all the pressure off of them. Pressure was potentially our best weapon and that is probably gone now. Real tough to get it back going forward.

Chris Sale Postseason debut: 7ER. 3 of those are on Farrell. As well as whatever happens the rest of this inning. Also now the defense is trash. This team is so soft; can't even watch. gg ez.

the good news it this team has shown an ability to bounce back. That's all we got at this point. Throw this game out with the trash.

But at least our good bullpen arms will be rested. Guaranteed Farrell will do his best to get Reed or Kimbrel in this game to get them some work.

The only way we win this game today is if we all take Bernie Carbo's drugs.

maybe, but early season Sale likely doesn't get hit like this. He wasn't sharp enough today. Yeah well that ship sailed in August when he was completely overused and not given more rest. Sure. Give him more rest. It’s not like we won the division by one game..... oh wait we did. If we gave him more rest there is no guarantee we win the division

Farrell is really just a terrible manager. He has to go if there's a sweep. If a legitimate reliever starts the 6th, its likely still a 3 run game against a "meh" relief corps.

Those runs are on Sale. It's not like he was gassed at 130 pitches and Farrell left him out there. He just wasn't very good.

Farrell is really just a terrible manager. He has to go if there's a sweep. I think, short of a World Series, that should be the case. Hey, he has been the lead for 5 years and has had multiple other years on the staff. Red Sox have been good to him

Farrell is really just a terrible manager. He has to go if there's a sweep. Agreed. Still can't believe we let Lovullo go. On a side note, I regret turning off game 2 of the '13 ALCS. The Sox overcame a 5 run deficit. Have some faith. Not over... Yet.

Might was well watch the guys battle till the end.

And who pitches in sales spot during those “skipped” starts? Whoever it is has a lower Chance of getting us a win compared to Sale.

Hell yeah, let's throw the kid from AA ball out there against Altuve in his first playoff game. Great idea.

I'm not on the "fire Farrell" bandwagon. But if I were, this game would definitely reinforce it.

I don't like firing people but Farrell has been extremely over rated since day one. He won the World series with a ton of talent. He's been squandering it ever since. I think he's gone this winter no matter what DD says.

Seriously. If we gave Sale extra rest which resulted in us getting the WC and we proceeded to not win the WC game, people would be complaining that we shouldn’t have rested sale

it can be so deflating. watch the team all year for this first playoff game and then have this happen.
Oh now it's on AJ. We won't forget that.

You want your ace pitcher burned out in the playoffs? ok

Farrell is pretty unlucky, but did a good job with the bullpen this year. He manages the Red Sox Way; players and front office believe in it. They probably have some really advanced metrics eg You kind of have go with the aggressive baserunning when you run the 3 CF defense.
I don't like the Red Sox Way, I would describe more as a deeply flawed organizational culture. I thought Henry should have flushed two or three times when he let Lucchino go. But most of you don't believe in organizational culture.
