Big difference so far this series: We've been getting some 2 strike counts and cant put them away. We've been getting some spots with men on, can't get the big hit to bring em in. Executing in those key spots is how playoff games are won. We haven't been getting it done.

I generally am feeling terrible for the guys. Even really bad baseball teams dont get beat up like this. It really makes me wonder what the hell the Astros are doing, but I am not going to get into hypotheticals.
I also am concerned for the younger guys who may lose 6 playoff games in a row. Again, you would think some random baseball luck would stop this stuff in its tracks.

This is just not a very good Red Sox team. This is a good Astros team. It would have been nice to have a more competitive series.

I still can't believe that Farrell's go to guy in the first high leverage situation is Joe Kelly. Just go to your locker and clean it out already Farrell.

Over a long season, I don't buy luck, and don't buy impact of umpires - things even out, and the cream rises to the top. Cleveland and Houston are clearly built for the way baseball is played in 2017. New York is on the way there. We have part of the solution - the pitchers (on paper, and for the most part, in practice until the long season wore them down), and a talented young core in the field.
I am not worried about how the killer Bs will come through this if we lose. All of these guys have been playing for a long time and experienced lots of success and some failure.
by the way, why is Leon and his weak bat and apparently shoddy concentration or defense in, and Vazquez not?
OK - back to it - I do think a change - the coaching staff (at least Farrell and Davis), bring in a big bat - hopefully a veteran with some experience and personality will change things for the better.
What I am most worried about is a potentially disastrous combo of not wanting to spend, further destruction of the farm system, and lack of adjusting to how the game is now being played leading to a perennially very good but not sufficiently great team for the near term future.
The team needs to be built around Mookie, Devers and Benintendi. I no longer have Xander on that list.....or JBJ.

Jesus. Kelly almost blew up this game. If it wasn't for the best defensive RF in baseball, this game is at least 5-0.
Farrell is making ALL the wrong moves so far.

Took 5 balls to walk Devers. Unbelievable how bad the umpires have been this series.
