I hope a few more people start to pay attention to these guys, they have as good a chance as anyone to win a Cup.

They had a chance to finish first and continued some recent mediocre play tonight - a tired team? Toronto will be a challenging series...

It always surprises me when a team loses a game under those types of circumstances and it happens often. They will be challenged out of the gate by Toronto for sure. I hope this tendency of falling behind early doesn't continue, coming back to win has been fun to watch but that isn't going to fly in the playoffs. They need to come out ready to roll in the first.

Carlo is a big loss and they need Nash healthy. You never know how a young team will react to the playoffs for the first time. They could win it all or get bounced in the first round. You do have to worry how all the young guys handle a full season than the playoffs. It will be fun to watch.

"Maple Leafs" really is such a terrible team name. Love the franchise's history, but outside of that context, it's like a bad Short-Season team that has a maple tree mascot running around the stadium somewhere in Vermont.

It’s trash they aren’t playing Donato Yeah, a somewhat surprising decision to me but they have their reasons I guess. I have noticed him being a bit of a liability in the defensive zone and it is just one game. On the flip side the playoffs are a long grind and to have guys like Donato, Gionta and Riley Nash waiting in the wings is a nice problem to have. First they have to get by the Leafs, not an easy task, but their depth should make a difference the deeper they get into June. Can't wait for tonights opener.

Pastrnak had a dirty 3rd goal for a hat trick today and he had a hat trick at a younger age in the playoffs than Gretzky.
I don't watch hockey, but the Bruins are young and talented and are worth watching.

Baseball is my favorite sport, but the Stanley Cup playoffs can be the most exciting and intense show in sports bar none.

Baseball is my favorite sport, but the Stanley Cup playoffs can be the most exciting and intense show in sports bar none. IMO hockey is the best sport to watch live. On tv many can't follow the puck as everything happens so fast, you have to know the game and it is hard to learn when you can't follow the puck. HD tv has helped a lot in that regard. In no other sport do guys go out there and hustle to the point of exhaustion in a matter of a minute or 2 and playoff hockey is just crazy intense. This team is playing really good hockey for sure but Torontos D has been terrible. And the B's got every bounce last night.

You gotta watch the players, not the puck. It's too hard to follow the puck, but you always know where it is by how the players react.

I was referring to what some friends have told me about HD and now loving to watch the B's. You are correct about watching the players I guess but I played my whole life so I know where the puck is going or at least where it should go. That is what is so great about this team, they move the puck so well it is astounding sometimes how they do the right thing so often. And fast, they are really talented and quick at moving the puck.

I used to play adult hockey and shared the ice with some Hurricanes players at a few stick and pucks during the last lockout and I can't even comprehend the hand-eye coordination along with the skating ability. Even some NHL scrub looks like Wayne Gretzky compared to a bunch of C-league players. And what's really crazy is how Wayne Gretzky could make those players look like C-league players.

I watched my first hockey in a few years yesterday and turned it off almost immediately after 3 ticky tack penalties drawn by exaggerated reactions in about 5 minutes. I cannot comprehend why people want to see power play contests in playoff games. It's why I quit watching to begin with (along with shootouts) and I see that nothing has changed. Maybe if they started publicly humiliating and suspending players for diving it would be better.

Mellen, of all people, used to tell me this theory he had that pretty much any player in the NHL could score 20 goals in the right system because they're all that talented, but a lot of it has to do with system, ice time, and role they were being asked to play. I'm probably mis-characterizing his point somewhat, but that was the gist.

My proposal for diving is for it to be reviewed and if found to be flopping then the player suspended for a game and each time it is an extra game. I obviously hate it but not enough to stop watching, I don't find it to be that bad. Although they do call too many ticky tack penalties these days, they wanted to open the game up and they have.

Bruins are about to blow this thing. They should probably try and trade Task after the playoffs regardless. Too soft of a goalie. Even the coach has been calling him average even after these playoff games.

Picking on Rask after a game in which he stopped 93.1% of the shots is crazy. That would have been tied for the league lead during the regular season and that guy didn't play a ton of games.
