Sorry, I respectfully disagree. I heard the rant and while it was insensitive he was right. People should not be ignoring what Halladay was doing that resulted in him killing himself. Let’s not sugar coat it; he killed himself. It wasn’t a tragic accident; he was an amateur pilot doing wreck-less things for thrills putting himself at great danger with no regard for his family. Saying he deserved to die is too far but it’s not a surprise he did considering what he was doing. If you take the fact he was a beloved baseball player out if it, if anyone was described this incident ahead of time (including his experience level and amount of time flying this new Sports plane) and asked what they think the result was, most would pick what happened. It baffles me that someone with kids would do what he did. It’s sad, but not because the world lost a Baseball icon; it’s sad because kids lost the father they loved because that father put cheap thrills over the welfare of his family. And if calling attention to that fact, makes someone else rethink similar choices they are making then that’s a good thing.

Yeah, I can't stand Felger, and he definitely went overboard, but in essence, I'm not sure he's entirely off-base,,,

Tone and timing matters. To put it lightly, this was the wrong tone and timing.

I'll be sure to write a "Felger got what he deserved" article after he's fired.

Felger was the clown who was up in arms about Rodriguez going on paternity leave, right?

I don't disagree it was a foolish way to die if he was indeed showboating and being reckless.
Still, saying somebody "deserves" to die is ridiculous. He wasn't some mass murderer.
Felger sounds like a guy hunting for ratings because he went way overboard. If he said it was preventable or a foolish way to go, fine. If he says he should have considered his family more, yup. But to say he deserved it! Get lost.

Have you guys watched the Video of him right before he died? He was going from like a 100 feet to 5 feet off the water. The guys in the boat were freaking out saying that can't be legal and what the heck is he doing. The timing and tone were horrible, but he was mostly right. This is just like Fernandez dieing because of alcohol, drugs and a fast boat at night time. It was very insensitive, but I don't see how he gets fired. The FAA report is going to show he was reckless and caused the crash. There's even a report of how he was bragging to his dad about the diving to 5 feet off the water being like flying a fighter jet.

Some things are better left unsaid. That philosophy used to be part of our culture. It no longer is, sadly.

I also heard the rant and while what Felger said was insensitive and stupid he was not wrong. And by the way he did not say Halladay deserved to die. That being said, it is very sad for the Halladay family and I wish them peace.

He's not getting fired either. They made him make a public apology, which they never do if they were going to fire you. They just fire you and move on.

I get that it pisses him off when people pit their loves at risk for some crazy stunt...He just was way too obnoxious about it and it was way too soon. He opened himself to be perceived as mocking Halladay just to be a dick.
That said I give him credit for apologizing and acknowledging that it wasn't fair to Halladay's family to hear his rant. And he let callers beat him up for four hours, even downplaying the ones that tried to defend him. This is the type of show they usually hate too. He also was suspended from tv for the weekend. Hopefully he learned his lesson and sticks to trolling homers over trivial sports issues.
