Anyone think the Sox and Mets matchup in a trade?
The Mets need a CF really bad and JBJ could be the cheap good fit that they could inquire and turn to. Jacob deGrom is the exact kind of arm Dave Dombrowski loves (power arm) and I believe Jacob has 3 more years of control just like JBJ.
This could open up a deal for Stanton or Marcell Ozuna trade later on by making Eduardo Rodriguez available for such a deal. The Sox could turn to J.D. Martinez in free agency to man LF for a year or two until Chavis is possibly ready to take over LF.
So maybe JBJ and Swihart for Jacob deGrom?

A healthy DeGrom, I would think, is more valuable to the Mets than JBJ. It's easier to get a competent CF than it is to get a top of the rotation type pitcher. I wouldn't think the Mets would have any interest in a deal like this.
If that deal was ever available and Degrom is healthy the Sox would be foolish not to pounce on it.

I think the Sox jump on that, but I don't see the Mets remotely interested in that trade. If they wanted to trade him, I would think Benny or Devers would need to be involved... three years of a cheap elite power pitcher is very valuable.

Not sure I want to see how he does at Fenway and in the AL East. I get scared when you take a pitcher like him from a true pitcher park and move him to a true hitters park. Nevermind we don't need pitching really.

I thought the same thing, but then I looked at the free agent list. The only capable CF is Lorenzo Cain. There's no other option and the Giants are probably going to be after Cain also. The cheapness of the Mets also factors into this, I'd think. If you could sign a cheap alternative to the free agent starting pitching market like a Lance Lynn, Helickson, Tyler Chatwood, Jason Vargas, CC Sabathia, or Jaime Garcia while trading for a controllable CF, then why not do it? There is a lot more cheap starting pitching options than CF. The Mets desperately need a CF too, it's been a black hole for them for years now. If the Mets could trade for a good CF, sign a cheaper 3rd baseman (like a Todd Frazier or Eduardo Nunez), and sign a cheaper starting pitching option, then that might be the better play for the Mets this off-season.

Nevermind we don't need pitching really. It could open up more options for the Sox. You could trade Porcello for salary relief for a Mookie Betts extension, or it could open up Eduardo Rodriguez for a trade (aka Stanton). You could also sign J.D. Martinez to play LF for a year until Chavis is ready possibly.
