I don’t favor brawls in sports. But I like it a lot that there tension between theses two teams. This rivalry is better when the teams don’t like each other.
Give me Pedro telling us he’d plunk Ruth in the ass. Give me Tek smashing Arod’s face. Give me players who don’t want to go out for coffee with the opponents. Give me Joe Kelly!

I bet Brian Johnson could be one of this team's best set up relievers.

If David Price was merely bad and not horrible (for reason of injury or whatever) for that one inning, the Sox would be right in this right now.

If Hembree or Barnes were any good, the Sox would be in it too. Can't blame Price. Injuries happen and he clearly wasn't right tonight. Barnes and Hembree is EXACTLY where I'm pointing my fingers at. They gave up what 5 or 6 runs in 3 innings?!!! That is the game right there.

I officially love Joe Kelly now lol. That was awesome. Seeing the replay... I want Vazquez to tackle him before he gets to the mound. Vasquez knew Austin was going to get drilled and he still didn't get in front of Austin before he got to Kelly. Bad job by him as he appeared more focused on putting his mask on vs getting in front of Austin.

I'm guessing they're giving Johnson some work to line him up to start 5 days from now? I would think he'd take Price's spot in the rotation? They wouldn't rush back Pomeranz, would they?

Depends what pops up in the MRI with Price. I'm guessing it can't be good. Yeah Speier was guessing it would be either Beeks or Johnson. I want to see Johnson take more of a lead role in the bullpen at this point. The bullpen is bad and they need more quality arms back there.

Nunez and Holt are not the answer in this line up ...really hoping Xander gets back quickly.

Maybe I said it poorly but my point was that his first inning was beyond bad (but not his fault because of the injury).

I’m on board with hating the Yankees, but that looked innocuous to me. Looked like he was trying to slide to the left of Holt but didn’t anticipate Holt swinging his leg that direction. Just my opinion. I agree. It may or may not have been a rule violation and a bad call by the ump. I don't think though it was done with any intent to injure. When I first saw it I thought it was dirty but the last view I saw (from the camera in left that's in line with 1st & 2nd) it didn't look like he did anything intentional. I think what Kelly did was kinda dumb. I admit though, my heart was pounding. It was exciting. It would have made me hate the MFY's even more if that were possible.

That is kind of the job of the bullpen, to pick up a starter sometimes after a bad start. Hard to ask them to go 8 innings and give up only 1 or 2 runs, but 6 runs?!!! Really?!!! I really think Barnes, Kelly, and Hembree are as good as the competition. If they are facing weak lineups, they can cruise. If they are facing talented lineups, they get crushed or in Barnes and Kelly's case, they walk people and then get crushed.

Not so sure that Austin was innocent. If it was a clean side then he would have gone through the base, however he clearly lifted his left leg attempting to break up the double play which is why MLB put in the rule to automatically call the runner out if they attempt to knock down the fielder to break up a double play. If the umpire called it correctly there may not have been any retaliation by the Red Sox.

I would have rather seen Swihart there tbh Agreed and if you're not going to use Swihart over Sandy Leon in that spot then what the heck is he even doing in the roster. And I'm a Sandy fan.

Tough loss, but I absolutely love that the team made a run for it anyways. It was still a game right until the final out and just getting to that point shows and intense fight. I hope Price is okay.
