There is some benefit for a guy like Benny to know when he's going to get a night off. It's to a degree a small mental vacation and there might be benefits to that long term. Gotta say that I like what I'm seeing in Benny and have all year. I know the hits are not there yet but I think his contact has been good and his OBP is still .400. He's making great decisions and I think he's going to have a great year if he stays healthy.
To me it would be tempting to trade Leon for a decent reliever. He's worth something significant. We may see Swihart set on the bench most of the year but that insurance is real valuable for a team like this especially. He's still cheap and if he doesn't play much he isn't going to cost a lot in arb either is he. If they played them selectively maybe one of them would be of better trade value. Gotta play if you want the premium return.
I'd rather see him as the #2 catcher though but I understand the Machiavellian approach, if that is what it is. Maybe that's why I would never make a great coach.

MLB Network has the crowd noise turned up so much that you can barely hear the announcers. It's weird.

Excellent game. Can't do much better than that! Taking advantage of the Yankees while they're in a bad way. Hope the Sox continue to kick them when they're down. Hell, I hope they kick them even if they're up (now it's starting to sound like a Don Henley song). Just kick the MFYs. Also, curious here, not able to access the Speier article about Ortiz helping out Betts. Can somebody paraphrase that article for me? How did Big Papi help Mookie out? “The main person that helped me with [correcting the stride] was Ortiz. He’s actually the No. 1 person who helped with that,” said Betts. “He came in, sat me down, and it was kind of like overnight, I think.” Mookie's feet were too far apart last year. Thanks. That would probably explain why Betts was collapsing his swing a little and popping up like he was last year instead of connecting squarely? He's not popping them up this year.

Mind boggling that during the mid 70's this team had three HOFers (Yaz, Rice, Fisk) and a couple who a case could be made for (Dewey and Freddy). If only they would have had better pitching.

Umpire already looks like he has a inconsistent strikezone.
Price looking bad.

Price laboring. Though, he did throw 2 strikes to Judge. It will help when he figures out what the home plate umpire is going to call a strike. I don't see anything consistent whatsoever so far.

Brutal. This pitching staff is very homerun prone.
Not good against a slugging lineup.

29 pitches, cold night, no control - I predict a short night. No command at all. I wonder if something is amiss health-wise?
