I'd pointed out on Twitter that Dedgar to Pawtucket might make sense yesterday. He was going to piggyback Pomeranz in his regular spot in the rotation tonight, so it makes sense to start him for Pawtucket to keep that rotation on regular rest until they figure out if Walden is coming back or something else is going on.
Either way, I'd presume this is temporary.

Barfield starting to come alive. Homered last night and 3 hits so far tonight, including two doubles.
EDIT: and he followed it up with another home run.

Another fine outing by Trey Ball. 2.2 innings, 2 H, 0 BB, and 2 Ks. Threw 33 pitches and 26 of them were strikes. Early returns on his bullpen shift are positive. Would they move him back into the rotation if he continues to do well or has that ship sailed?

Don't mess with it.

Pretty exciting that this team has 4 legit starting pitching types in their system right now in Hernandez, Groome, Mata, and Houck.

I know there's little prospect shine, but Dedgar's Triple-A line worth noting: 6IP, 5H, 2ER, 1BB, 4K. Pretty solid for the big fella.

Direct observation had Pomerantz' FB 89-91....well below his best performance last year. He gave up 4 hits plus 3 walks in 5+ innings. But he also surrendered numerous hard outs to warning tracks.
He appears, from this effort, to be a step below last year's performance.
