Offense remains a work in progress, but Rei has thrown out both of the guys who tried to steal against him today.

I'm really intrigued by Esteban Quiroz: 6 BBs vs 6 Ks with a .371 IsoP got your attention. Yeah SSS, 26 year Old in AA ball but he's someone to keep an eye on IMO.

Jalen Christopher Beeks season so far: 8 IP, 16 K and 3 BB You'd like to see him going deeper but you've got to love those peripherals!

Hey Perdofan-
So how do feel about Workman today after scoreless and hitless innings with no walks and 2 K's? Is he useless or potentially useful?

I like Walden over Workman at this point and Walden has more team options. We don't know Workman's velocity. In spring training his FB was generally below 90..based on direct observations. He can't live there. I would agree to date that Walden is the currently superior arm....94-95 with an impressive slider.

At some point Daniel Gonzalez deserves to be considered a real prospect, he has become dominant after already being very good.

I still think Workman has value, and I’d like to see him get his velo back where it was last year. But yeah, Walden has pretty solid stuff and he’s pitched reasonably well.

Jalen Christopher Beeks season so far: 8 IP, 16 K and 3 BB You'd like to see him going deeper but you've got to love those peripherals! The errors certainly didn’t help with efficiency. He definitely misses bats, the cutter and CB combo has really given him a palette to work with. I mean, I can’t complain about the SP depth at the MLB level, but wow...he’s really making a case for himself but he’s pretty blocked. Porcello’s been terrific...he looks like his 2016 version. And Rodriguez has been missing a lot of bats. Given the performances of Velazquez (love the splitter) and Johnson, even if Pomeranz leaves Beeks is really gonna have to keep this up to get a shot. Of course, you wonder about what they’re going to do with all of those arms. Trading SP depth is risky, but keeping an apparently viable 4/5 in AAA isn’t ideal either. It’d be great if Beeks kept dealing and the Sox could move a guy above him for some high-upside A ball talent.

I mean I don't think the FB gets higher than 87-88, but I guess we've seen that work in very rare circumstances.... When I've seen him, he's a pitcher, not a thrower, he pretty much puts his repertoire where he wants to and manages it quite well. The reality though is that we won't know until the upper levels because he's too advanced for the CAR and it is not a good test area for him.
