Of 1050 minor leaguers Pedro Castellanos has the 2nd highest opposite field batted ball rate.
Barfield and Dalbec have the lowest oppo rates in the Sox system to far. Dalbec has the 2nd highest Air Ball rate in all of minor league baseball.

I can't imagine they would ever tell a guy this, but who knows? At some point, Bogaerts is going to come back and send Lin back to AAA, and I can't see why they would commit to Olt staying up early when it can't be more than a week or so until Bogaerts is activated. Worth noting that CDLG and De Jesus have had MISERABLE starts at the plate, although to some degree that could be from poor BABIP luck, compared to Olt, who is raking. So if they did say this to him, you could see why. De La Guerra, actually, might be a candidate to go back to Portland with a 37% K rate and .354 OPS (although you could see that as a Quiroz countermove).

Just thinking aloud: maybe Olt told them that, rather than the other way around? Maybe he's fine playing in the minors and working on the comeback but if it's between bouncing back down to Double-A and heading home then he is heading home? I can totally see someone hit 29 and be fine doing the Triple-A MLFA year-to-year thing but isn't down for playing the shuttle game anymore.

Grand Slam for Ockimey in the 7th inning. Crushed it to deep left center. Exit velocity of 107 MPH carried it 411 feet.

This Castellanos fly chart is really interesting. From a hit tool perspective, I'm definitely encouraged by a guy who is often going the other way and striking out at below average rates (14.5% on the year compared to minuscule rates in previous years). That said, he seems unlikely to unlock very much in-game power until he develops more of an all-fields approach. There is a sample size of 1, but the one ball he pulled outside of the infield looks like it almost left the yard. We know he has raw power so if he could unlock some of that eventually, there is some nice upside offensively.

Daniel McGrath has pitched 8 innings striking out 12 and walking 1. The major league roster NEEDS an Aussie!

Any updates on Groome? We’re two weeks into the season and the Globe article from two weeks ago said that he’d been symptom-free for a couple of days at the time of the article. Can’t be much longer now, right?

Houck was no so incredible tonight . . . again. Still a work in progress. Hopefully the aggressive placement does come back to bite the Sox, and Houck. Hopefully, he gets things figured out.

Jared Oliver to Tanner Houck: “shut up and hold my beer.” 2.2 innings, one hit, one K, one earned run. But 5 (!) walks, 2 wild pitches, a balk, two HBPs, and only 26 of 63 pitches for strikes.
