Vazquez can't even tell Nunez to slide at the plate.
Guy just can't do a lot of things right.

that was a beautiful swing from Jackie; you have to send Nunez on a ball that gets to the wall with Vazquez due up, but man he's lost a step, and then didn't even slide.

That’s not Eduardo’s fault, Vazquez has to get in the right position and tell him to slide.

That's half of Vazquez's fault people. Guy just stood there and gave no instructions.

That's half of Vazquez's fault people. Guy just stood there and gave no instructions. True but you don't slow up because you don't see anyone.

Yes, Vaz should've told him to get down. But this is the MLB. Every game counts. So what if you get your jersey dirty? You have to slide. You just do. Reminds me of Hanley the other day. For Gods sake this is inexcusable. I hope Cora takes care of business.

If Vazquez is making a emphatic slide call, you probably see Nunez making a better play. He can't see anything. Vazquez just doesn't do a good job paying attention to much of anything it seems. At least he has a good arm that teams stupidly like to run on occasionally.

Refsnyder's only major league ability is not swinging at anything.

True but you don't slow up because you don't see anyone. I thought the same thing Remy just said, he got faked by the catcher. Seeing another angle, CV had his hands up initially, which looked liked "stay up". Just another base running blunder.

That's half of Vazquez's fault people. Guy just stood there and gave no instructions. More than half. Nunez has his back to the play. He has no idea where the ball is. Vazquez has to tell him what to do on a close play like that. I really don't blame Nunez for that at all. Just a horrible mistake by Vazquez.

That's half of Vazquez's fault people. Guy just stood there and gave no instructions. It is more than half Vazquez fault - as the on deck hitter you have one job. I think I know where the vitriol would have lied if Nunez has been the on-deck hitter. He also gestured at Vazquez as if to say you told me to stand - and we certainly didn't get enough camera angle to know if that's not true. Defenders try to deke all the time - that's why you look to the on deck hitter... But certain people came into the game talking about cutting Nunez and they we're looking for any reason to back that up. And Vazquez gave them one... --- As for JBJ - it's amazing why happens when you use the whole field. That is the key to success for him and good on him noticing it and executing it. The Red Sox have said a few times the last couple days they were working to fix a mechanical issue with him - in his lower half, which likely means not getting his foot down in time. If that is fixed and he continues to spray he could get hot soon. Either way this new approach is all I'll ask for... Unfortunately, he may get hot just in time for Pedroia to return and force the decision to simply give up on swihart...

NESN showed a good angle of Vazquez holding his hands up. Remy pointed out everything that was wrong with what Vazquez did.
He was in the wrong position to make a call to slide or not and he made the wrong decision.
Thankfully he got a base hit and the Sox are rolling now.

I got the Rays broadcast tonight and they had a great angle of Vazquez giving the stand up to Nunez , and at the LAST second motioning him to get down. It also showed when Nunez got up he put his arms up when he was looking at Vazquez (Like YO: You told me to stand up). Vazquez fault all the way.
