Let’s hope Danny Diaz isn’t going to rest today.

Wow. I noticed that there are only 5 MLB games today as well. What's up with that?

Wow. I noticed that there are only 5 MLB games today as well. What's up with that? There are definitely quite a few MiLB games, I didn't spend the time to see how many off days there were, but I had to triple check today's slate. I thought it was an error.

Just realized it's probably a draft thing. Only the Southern (AA) and Florida State (A+) leagues have games tonight. There is also one Eastern League game that had a 9:45 am start in Reading.

I get Robinson, obviously, but who's the Guerrero the other Dodgers team is named after?

Somehow we have more posts in here than we typically do with a full slate of MilB games. Glad to see everyone is excited about the draft or something. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

OK, the video of the two Dodgers teams celebrating together at the end of the game in that link is kind of awesome. Part of me is like "but you lost in the championship, even if it's to your buddies and you aren't exactly broken up about it," but it's pretty neat.

Nelfy Abreu with 5 BBs today.

Nelfy Abreu with 5 BBs today. #DSLstats (in the sense of "stuff that happens in the DSL", not to be confused with "ignore DSL stats") Blue team (Red Sox 1) in extras with Dodgers Robinson. Carlos Cortes has thrown 3 innings after throwing 2 on Saturday - these are the things you're asked to do at 21 in the DSL. If there were ever a league that needs to just not have extra inning games, it's the DSL.

On a Callis/Mayo podcast a couple weeks ago, Mayo said that MLB specifically did this to get more eyeballs on the draft tonight. Not sure it will actually work.

Not sure "what, no PawSox game tonight? I guess I'll watch the Draft" is a thing that many people will say.

Not sure "what, no PawSox game tonight? I guess I'll watch the Draft" is a thing that many people will say. Given the uncertainty of draft picks along with the likely 3-4 years at the minimum they are from making the majors, there's really no way that the MLB draft will ever get any mainstream appeal. It's just for baseball geeks like us. I hope they don't try more than this. I also hope there is no trading of picks in the future just to try to gain interest. No matter what they do, baseball prospects are going to be the most varied in their outcomes compared to any other sport and therefore not exciting at all for the vast majority of fans. I'll try telling my girlfriend about draft picks and the most reaction I'll get from her is 'let me know in 5 years how they did'. Although I did take her to see Mookie when he was in AAA for about 2 weeks, so she's thrilled that she got to see him before just about everyone else.

At least 2 of the MLB games, the Yankees/Tigers doubleheader, weren't originally scheduled, rainout makeup games. (they split).

And beyond that, in football and basketball, they're drafting dudes who fans have heard of before. It makes sense to have an opinion on, say, the Bills taking Josh Allen over Josh Rosen. Whereas basically nobody bitching about Trey Ball vs. Austin Meadows had heard of either more than 48 hours before the draft.

Nelfy Abreu with a pretty great DSL line - 0/0 with 5 walks.
