A little icing on the cake by Beni here, perhaps? Nope...can't get greedy!

Poyner, like Workman - get the ball, throw the ball, attack the batter. No screwing around. Love it.

Beeks starts - Poyner or Workman back to Pawtucket? Mookie gets activated. Pedey gets activated. Travis goes back to Pawtucket...and who? Are we seeing the need to move Johnson or Hembree (esp with Poyner and Workman's effectiveness and Pomeranz eventual return)??

Well look, sure the Red Sox had that hot 17-2 start, but other than that, if you set aside their recent hot streak where they've gone 22-11 in their last 33 games, they're only 4-6.

Time for the feast, which we've begun well with Detroit. Next come the White Sox (20-39), Baltimore (19-41)...then it gets a bit tougher, with 7 against Seattle (with Minnesota in between as a respite) - then Angels, Yankees and Nationals.
So - let's beat up on the weaklings and hope the MFY lose a few so we can get some breathing room. If trends continue, we will have Mookie, JDM, Xander, Brock, Mitch and Beni as .300 hitters.

Are we seeing the need to move Johnson or Hembree (esp with Poyner and Workman's effectiveness and Pomeranz eventual return)?? They have 13 pitchers and a 3-man bench right now. Poyner or, more likely, Workman goes down for Beeks (that's actually an interesting decision). Beeks goes down after his start and Mookie gets his roster spot. Travis goes down when Pedey is ready. Poyner or Workman goes down when Pomeranz is ready to take a spot in the pen.
It's way too soon to think about moving Hembree or Johnson to make room for Workman or Poyner. Given how low the leverage they pitch in is, you'd have to be upgrading massively to offset the thinning of organizational depth. I think one of them way well get moved, but probably in July, and only if everyone stays healthy. Maddox's return is a factor here, too.

As is Thornburg's return.

I’m going to wait for Thornburg to stop walking a minor league batter per inning before I worry about him at all.

Maddox got really lit up the other night when I saw him pitch against Durham - hit 90 only once, no command or control - I think he gave up 5 singles and a walk - horrible line -didn't come close to getting an out. Workman came in and K'd 3 in a row.
He looked nowhere near ready - not even for AAA

#RedSox: Benintendi CF, Bogaerts SS, Martinez RF, Moreland 1B, Nuñez 2B, Travis LF, Devers 3B, Vazquez DH, Swihart C, and Beeks LHP Beeks better continue to strike everyone out like he has in AAA, because that’s a real rough defense we’re rolling out behind him.

Every flyball to the OF will be an adventure heh Detroit also owns the 3rd best OPS in MLB vs LHP. Tough order for the kid.

Did I honestly just read that Martinez will actually play RF in Fenway?

Surprised they are playing this weak defense team for Beeks' debut. Big L imo.

Surprised they are playing this weak defense team for Beeks' debut. Big L imo. Yeah I mean, this might be one of the weakest defensive lineups all time for the Sox. Nunez at second. Martinez in RF. Travis in LF. Swihart at catcher.

Thinking of all time worse Sox defensive players who played significant time. Don Buddin gets SS, Joe Foy 3rd, Pete Runnels 2B, Dr Strangeglove 1B, Joe Lahoud (Lebanese not French) RF. Ike Delock starting pitcher. Others?
