I wonder if there are 3 more Josh Smiths that pitch who the PawSox could acquire and roll with a 5-man rotation of Josh Smiths.

Reversal of the spot starts that didn’t go so well.

Pseudo addendum to the GDT: at 3:00 on ESPN2, Texas v. Tennessee Tech super regional game 2. Red Sox 12th round pick, Chase Shugart, will be getting the ball for Texas, I believe.

Hi everybody, new account and new to posting. I'm Ben Gellman, the broadcaster for the Salem Red Sox. I'll try to pop in from time to time with a couple of thoughts about how our games went, since I have the benefit of seeing the guys every day and noting their progress over time. I'll also keep a link to our radio broadcasts in my signature. Cheers! Ben Listen to Salem Red Sox Games

This is just puzzling to me. Reyes is dominating the league right now...idk maybe its just temporary but still

I thought I expected Dedgar to have a good year, four pitches, at least stay as a SP and be fringy 6th-7th SP type. Good year last year, and success at AA briefly. Another rough start (though 7K/1BB/7H in 6 IP not as bad as the 4ER. AA is not fooled by his stuff.

Rusney up to .318, two walks today. I know why, but this is like prospect malpractice at this point.

Kutter was cruising until the wheels cam off in the 6th inning. Not sure how bad it was, 2 doubles weren't good, but also 4 GB singles. Maybe some bad luck? Maybe some tiring? A little of both?
Today's Josh Smith was outstanding following Thornburg's 1 inning scoreless start. 4.2 innings of 1H, 1BB, 1R, 7K baseball.

Tough outing for Darwinzon today; gave up two runs on one hit and four walks in one inning, having thrown 45 pitches. The humidity and heat here in Myrtle Beach has been brutal, and Myrtle Beach is hot as can be; they've won eight in a row.

That maybe was just me.

Final score 4-3; Brett Netzer with two more RBI (now 7 in 10 games in June). First Golden Sombrero for any Salem player this year, as Dalbec strikes out four times, but don't read too much into that; the umpire's strike zone was horrid tonight. Doubleheader tomorrow.

Castillo is at .485/.541/.818 during his eight-game hitting streak.
Even if whether he's actually any good is a fair question, the guy deserves a ton of credit for continuing to work hard and produce the last two years during a hopeless situation. It'd be really easy (and understandable) for a guy in his situation to start sulking and shut down.

Well, he does have "renumeration" to keep him around, but maybe he likes to play baseball also, and even get better at it. I'd appreciate feedback from those who've watched him play about the swing and if there has been some re-working. Maybe a little shorter and quicker to the ball?

I should think that Rusney might generate some trade interest to a team not near the lux cap. His remaining contract is not exactly an albatross: 2018: $11M (balance), 2019: $11M, 2020: $13.5M
.316/.345/.436/.781 and rising plus he's a decent defender. (a few more walks wouldn't hurt his case).
