Runs scored since the June 6 7-1 victory 2 (loss) 0 (loss) 4 (win) 2 (loss) 2 (win) 6 (win) 5 (win) 2 (win) 6 (loss) 0 (loss) 9 (win) 2 (loss) tonight - 1 41 runs in 13 games - 3.1 per game. Take out the 9 run aberration - 32 runs in 12 games, 2.6 per game. I think we can live with the pen - but cannot thrive with this offense. The silver lining is that despite that stretch, they're still third in baseball in runs per game. The reason I say that is that it implies that the talent is probably already mostly there for them to correct things. A thought: given that Swihart is just not hitting at all since the Hanley DFA, how bad would he have to continue hitting to clear waivers?

A thought: given that Swihart is just not hitting at all since the Hanley DFA, how bad would he have to continue hitting to clear waivers?I think Swihart could go 0 for the season (he's not far off....I'm kidding sort of) - and I still don't think he'd clear waivers. I went to vote for the All-star teams and when I did I did a brief study of the catchers' offensive stats. The Red Sox catchers' offense is horrible, but they're hardly alone in that. Even Buster Posey isn't hitting like Buster Posey. The point is that with all of those teams struggling for offense behind the plate and most of those teams struggling period, it's hard to imagine that at least one wouldn't be interested in seeing what happens if you give Swihart consistent ABs and let him develop behind the plate. Let him make mistakes or slump. Give him the chance the Sox never game him after the 2015 season ended. He won't cost much in $, so I'm sure there will be teams out there ready to jump on giving him an opportunity. Most of them have absolutely nothing to lose.

I tried to stay away. But I love the Boston Red Sox. Let's get this win and get on a plane back to the Fens.

So the top AL teams scoring 3 runs or less in 2018- Red Sox- 22 Yankees- 17 Astros- 22 Mariners- 26 The Astros own the best pitching in all of baseball. They are number 1 in ERA and WHIP. The Yankees are third in ERA and 2nd in WHIP. The Sox are 5th in ERA and WHIP. The Mariners are 13th in ERA and 7th in WHIP. The good news is that on paper the Sox are clearly are the better team over the Mariners. The bad news is that the Sox are a clear step behind the Yankees and Astros in every important facet. The other bad news is that being better than the Mariners means nothing for one game. It kills me to say this, but the Yankees are probably one good starter away from being the favorites in the division. No they aren't. I don't know why you guys are out here pimping the MFY's, but really, it doesn't mean anything for members to constantly post that the MFY are better. All these teams are very close and when the playoffs roll around it will be more likely a function of who has more luck than the other guy, because of the short series aspect of playoff baseball. Well I think the Astros are the best team in baseball, especially if they get Britton at the trade deadline. For what it's worth, I hope you're right about the Sox end up being better than the MFY's when it's all said and done.

We are all in this damn thing together. It can get frustrating at times, sorry if I got heavy handed, brother !!

When did Ryan Pressly start throwing 98? WTF?
Here's his scouting report here (Sox drafted him in the 11th round of 2008 and lost him in the Rule 5 in 2012):
Scouting Report: Pressly has a polished delivery with excellent balance and a consistent release point. Doesn't create much drive out of his delivery and is shorter with his arm extension. Features a four-seam fastball that sits 90-91 mph and occasionally tops out at 93 MPH.

It seems like so long ago that JBJ made it back to the .200 batting average. He’s back to .175 now

Not much to complain about today. That's 6 2-out runs in the 7th and 8th.
Edit, actually 4. I looked at something wrong.

jackie hit balls 96, 103, and 108 today and got one to drop in. Look what he's done in June yet how hard he's hit the ball; unlucky as it gets.

Or he may get a bunch of hits of off soft liners, bloppers, and seeing-eye grounders. That only seems fair. He was crushing balls in Seattle for all the good it did him unless it went out of the park.

So since April 21rst the Yankees are 41-13. That's pretty much a 76 percent winning percentage. Keep in mind that Gleyber Torres was promoted on April 22nd.
I actually got to give the Sox credit. When your rival is winning 76 percent of the time, it's pretty hard to even be 2 games back and 4 losses behind in the loss column.
The Sox need to do some damage head to head against the Yankees because the rest of the AL is doing a horrible job of competing against the Yankees.
At some point the Yankees got to slow down. I hate waiting for it though. I hate pumping up this cr*p franchise.
