Yes, things look rather desultory in the early going here. Probably the best we can hope for is Pomeranz holding them to, say, 2 runs in 5 innings and then the pen gets another workout.
A real issue is pen burnout before the season is over. We don't have enough consistent innings-eaters.

Get this guy off this team and out of the majors.... Things could be worse. We could be the Mets.

I don't think you can even put him in the pen. Can't throw strikes and has no velocity on the fastball.

A throw on line gets him.

With the day off tomorrow, the whole pen should be available. There’s no reason from Pomeraz to go any further here.

The Sox have had chances to score but just couldn't get the clutch hit.

The offense has been disgusting to watch the past 17 innings.

The offense has been disgusting to watch the past 17 innings. Well, y'know, Arrieta IS a pretty decent pitcher. Maybe this is a throwaway game from the opening pitch.

0 for 8 with runners in scoring position. Can't blame Pomeranz for that.

Going to say something positive about Pomeranz. He works fast!
OK - something else. His curve seems to be coming around.
And a third - only two runs in 5 innings (if he can get this last out) - in all fairness, we should have at least that.

Especially considering we somehow pulled a win out of our butts yesterday, that makes today's game even more loseable.

They need to take him out now. You're just crossing your fingers right now.

He's walked Franco twice! I think it takes a week for Franco to walk twice.

If you think about it Pomeranz 2 WHIP isn’t that bad because he literally does it every inning whereas most guys would have a couple clean innings and just be lit up the others.
Silver lining

I can't speak for anyone else, but I never wanted Pomeranz to start this game.

Waiting for the game to be out of reach before we warm up the pen.
Brilliant.

Silver lining - Swihart's doing a great job blocking all the balls in the dirt.

If you told me before the game that could have five innings and two runs from Drew Pomeranz tonight, I would have very quickly accepted that.
It wasn’t pretty.
