Why is Holt the DH? Is Pearce hurt?

If I had a dollar for every time this season I've looked at the lineup and thought what the heck we have no chance with this lineup. As recently as Sunday actually. I'm pretty sure everytime I've been proven wrong and we've won.

Well, at least the Sale shoulder soreness explains the Pomeranz start.

Pomeranz has been sitting 87-89 so far through the first couple of batters. Command hasn’t been there consistently to start either. May be looking at a short night.

Am I the only one who had the thought "already paying defensive dividends", as Nunez has fumbled throws and or missed tags, on a few similar plays?...am I misremembering? ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Pomeranz still being in the rotation makes me think the Sale DL stint was pre-planned.

It’s just one inning, but this lineup that a few of us complained or at least wondered about just made Arrieta work for 22 pitches and it would have been more had they not just run into an out right there. The 2018 Red Sox just get things done, pitch by pitch, inning by inning, game by game, series by series. They’re very talented and very resilient.
They’re going to win this game tonight.

Pom's velocity is actually declining from where it was earlier this year. I thought nothings changed...its actually getting worse

Pomeranz is borderline BP. He has to be hurt? If not, his arm is shot? I have NO trust in him. BETTER win this game , because i'm not liking no Sale for this weekend's Series.

This has to be the last Pomeranz start. You would hope so. But, with E-Rod, and now Sale on the DL he'll probably to start again. Unless he gets ROCKED tonight? What options do the Sox have right now?

I absolutely hate Drew Pomeranz. Harsh. He was quite valuable to the team last year. It seems pretty obvious he’s not healthy. I feel for him.

Hmmmm. That last pitch for Pomeranz hit 92. At the very least he can still air it out in short stints and be an effective left out of the pen.

Back to back innings with leadoff doubles then a bunch of pathetic ABs to follow them up.
