Only 9 days until the roster expansion....good thing - with CVaz about to rehab, joining ERod. Devers, Sale and Wright probably back soon as well. The timing probably will eliminate some tough decisions. Now, the playoff roster - that's another matter!

Eovaldi is easily more valuable than all of these guys. Johnson might be a different category as the only lefty reliever in the bunch. That said, I’m not sure he is a traditional LOOGy. I think in a short series Velasquez is redundant if you keep Johnson, and Thornburg is redundant if you keep Hembree. This also taling into account that by games 5-7, you are likely going to starters ahead of some of these guys. Not so sure about Kelly or Brasier. Have to see how Eovaldi would do out of the pen. If Johnson or Velazquez are pitching in the postseason things will have gone quite wrong. They're useful in the regular season, but not the playoffs.

I think Johnson will make the post season roster. I think Cora will like his long relief abilities as opposed to necessarily having to piece things together such as Hembree in the 6th, Brasier in the 7th, Barnes in the 8th.
Not saying he wouldn't do Hembree, Brasier, Barnes, and then Kimbrel, because I think he would and I get that there are off days, but I think he'll like having Johnson and Eovaldi in those long relief roles. I think he saw the value of Peacock, McCullers, and Morton in those roles last season and while the Sox closer is a ton better than what Houston had last year, the middle relief crew has as many question marks as last year's Astros did.
I think the post-season rotation winds up: Sale, Price, Porcello, and E-Rod.
And the pen winds up: Kimbrel, Barnes, Eovaldi, Hembree, Brasier, Johnson, and Kelly (edging out Thornburg and Workman).

I don't think Eovaldi makes the playoff roster because I think the Pitching staff roster will be; Sale, Porcello, Price, E. Rod Kimbrel, Barnes, Hembree, Braisier, Kelly, Thornburg, Velázquez, Johnson I could see them taking Workman over Thornburg

With no trades and all reasonable estimates on healthy bodies, here is my guess on the 25 for the postseason
Sale Porcello Price ERod starters (4) Eovaldi Johnson Kimbrel Barnes Brasier Kelly Workman Hembree pen (8)
Leon Moreland Kinsler Bogaerts Devers Benintendi Betts Bradley JDM starters (9) Pearce Vazquez Holt Nunez bench (4)
Left off - Velazquez (tough call), Thornburg (unless he gets hot), Pomeranz (ditto), and Swihart (tough call) - if Wright gets healthy, could bump Johnson, Brasier or Hembree.

I guess everyone forgets about Wright who is probably close to going on a rehab stint.

I guess everyone forgets about Wright who is probably close to going on a rehab stint. Haven't forgot about Steven Wright. Just not counting on him to be healthy and/or effective. He's dealing with a different kind of injury, the kind Pedroia has. He'll pitch but it's really hard to know what you'll get. Yes, if he pitches well, he certainly has a shot at a bullpen role, but it's kind of hard to count on. He could pitch and then the knee starts bothering him again. He and Pedroia are kind of in uncharted territory.

I think they'll keep him in the bullpen when he comes back to avoid overuse. But if he's good, he's a very good bet to displace someone else.

When is the last time Benintendi hit a homerun? It feels like it has been ages.

We really miss Devers pop at the bottom of the order. He had the ability to change the score with one swing

Carrasco is nasty. I don’t like having to score off him, but I appreciate watching him. Wicked slider.
