I love this bullpen with Wright in it. He's so tough to hit. He really has one of the best knuckleballs I have ever seen.
Edit- I'm surprised he came all the way back with no setbacks. The pessimist in me thought he was going to have a setback and he was going to be done for the year.

Atlanta has a Wright in the game. Two Wrights in one game...that's just wrong.

Joe Kelly looks like a high school sophomore who listens to a lot of Rush.

I find it genuinely unfair — an historic injustice, even — that Cleveland has a lower magic number than the Sox. Yeah, yeah... team records, blah blah. Just seems wrong.

Part of the reason Im not a huge fan of the current playoff system. That division seems to only ever have one good team, and sometimes not even that.

Is Brasier officially the setup man or is that still Barnes? What's the current hierarchy? I feel a bit lost.

He could be a relief weapon in the postseason.

Btw, yet another game where the Sox struggle early but absolutely take after a couple times through the order. This is just a very disciplined but aggressive offense.

So if Porcello gets a start in an NL Park in the Series does he bat 8th and Leon 9th?

good win..now to kick back and watch the Yankees struggle in oakland At this point in the season, any day the Yankees don't gain ground on us is a bad day for them. Any day they lose a game on us borders on disastrous. At least as far as the division race goes.

Nice win. Magic number is down to 15 and at this point the Yankees are way more concerned with keeping the Wild Card game in NY than any AL East race.
Good to see Porcello calm things down after the laborious start. Hopefully he'll get back to being that guy who can give them 6 or 7 innings more consistently. He's a guy you'd definitely want to start a World Series game in the NL ballpark. The guy can hit some.
Glad to see the Sox doing their Rip Van Winkle offense thing again. Sleep through the first half of the game and wake up in the second half.
And they won despite doing one of the four cardinal baseball sins - fail to score with the bases loaded and no outs. The other sins (in case anybody at all is curious) is losing a 1-0 game, blowing a late game lead, and worst of all - losing to the MFYs.
What's really cool about this victory (great game by Pearce by the way) is that it's the 96th victory for the team.
I've been watching since 1980 so 96 wins is the 3rd highest total I've seen them win and the team that won 96 was the 2007 World Champion Red Sox.
With the next win (tomorrow?), it's 97 and it matches the 2013 World Champion Red Sox total.
And then the win after is 98 (which also clinches a .600 season), which matches the 2004 World Champion Red Sox total.
I've never seen them win 99 games, although I'm sure plenty here remember the 1978 team that did (unfortunately).
And I think very few here remember seeing them in triple digits. We're talking 1946 here!
Every win from here on out is pretty historic!

The pessimist in me thought he was going to have a setback and he was going to be done for the year. That he gets a legitimate FB over doesn’t hurt his case. He could be a relief weapon in the postseason. Yeah I think so too. I think a lot of people see a knuckleball and think it's all one in the same. I think the exact opposite. I think every knuckleball pitcher is different, just like every pitcher with a sinking fastball is different and how every changeup is different. I saw one person on Twitter call the knuckleball a "fickle pitch." I called him out on it. Wright's knuckleball is one of the toughest pitches in this league to hit when he's right and healthy. I think the problem is everyone lumps him in with Wakefield. Wakefield was way better in a lot of aspects like durability especially, but I'll take Wright's knuckleball over Wake's if I had to pick one for a game. Wright seems a lot less homerun prone than Wakefield when healthy.
