They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). This will be a tough series. The Mets are playing a lot better lately. Their young players have been contributing. And the Mets have the starting pitching matchup advantage for 2 of the 3 games (because Sale is only expected to go a few innings).
The Sox (on paper) should have a big advantage on Saturday.
Hopefully the Sox can beat up on the Mets' bullpen even if they have trouble solving Thor and/or DeGrom, who hardly ever gets any run support at all. Perhaps the Mets questionable bullpen can swing a game into the victory column for the Sox.

Red Sox announce RHP Hector Velazquez will not start tonight’s game against the Mets due to illness. RHP William Cuevas will start in his place.

Unless they have Brian Johnson penciled in to start soon so that Porcello gets backed off I wonder why Johnson wouldn't get a start. Even so, they could always swap Johnson and Velazquez. Kind of surprised here.

Kind of surprised here. They may just want to keep his focus on relief pitching because that will be his role in the playoffs. Plus, if anything he's proven himself incapable of eating innings as a starter.

With Cuevas going, maybe tonight will really test how charmed this team really is...we've grabbed victory from the jaws of defeat a few times recently! Hope that our bats are engaged...

I thought for awhile he might make the roster but he's been getting hit hard lately and with Wright returning and Eovaldi transitioning to a reliever, don't think it makes sense to include Johnson, so why not start him? Hell, even Eovaldi is starting next Tuesday and won't be during the post-season. I'd still think that Johnson makes sense to start tonight? Unless something is up with him too (soreness, injury)?

I don't care what Robby Scott does in the minors, he is useless up here in the majors.

The three run homer will just make the Red Sox late inning comeback more dramatic.

Why do most lefty relievers just sucks?

There is nothing in baseball more annoying than a LOOGY that can't get lefties out. Well maybe that they can't throw strikes to lefties. They're already almost useless even if they were good, but when they can't do the one thing that they have to do well, they're worse than useless.
