Can we place bets on "the Astros acquire Dylan Bundy and he wins a Cy Young Award?" Or is that so obvious that Vegas won't even place odds on it?

Couple days late, but Brad Brach (6.13 ERA, 1.77 WHIP) was DFA by the Cubs...another reliever we woulda/coulda/shoulda gone over the top CBT line for this winter.

Mitch Haniger reportedly working his way closer to playing after his.... ruptured testicle. If that isn’t deserving a toast, I don’t know what is.

Javier Baez tries batting lefty once against a position player, and his swing didn't look awful lol.

Javier Baez tries batting lefty once against a position player, and his swing didn't look awful lol. On MLB radio this morning I heard that he's a natural lethander. The Cubs are encouraging him to play winter ball to bat from the left side. Apparently he takes swings from the left side during batting practice.

Yes but the batting practice baseballs might need a little more juice.

Yes but the batting practice baseballs might need a little more juice. Ted's famous HR would probably be 50 feet further with today's ball.

Maybe I said this, but MLB had an article on the top surprise for each team, so I’ll say it again: I am stoked for l’il Yaz. Dude has kicked around and now is finding success. I hope he can sustain it.

A return of King Felix would be great for baseball.

Royals DFA Billy Hamilton. Playoff teams will snatch him up in a minute as a backup outfielder/pinch run option for the rest of the year.

Shout out to Aristedes Aquino, the new Reds rightfielder, who came up and promptly smashed his 10th HR in what - 15 games? Ridiculous! And it wasn't that long ago he was a big question mark in the minors. Here's a kid who's put it all together. Should be interesting to see what he accomplishes in 2020 if those changes he made offensively holds.
It occurred to me last season that Jeff McNeil could soon vie for a batting title and sure enough here he is, but he has competition from a guy I had never heard of until recently - Bryan Reynolds who also has pop in his bat as well. He's come out of nowhere, but he has a good track record in the minors of hitting. The Pirates have a gem in this guy. Just wanted to salute him as well.
And there's another guy who I think it's just a matter of time before he's winning AL batting titles. This might sound crazy but he could be the Rod Carew of his generation perhaps???
And he plays 2b for the Twins just like Carew did. His name is Luis Arraez. He managed a .340 in A ball and he was hitting .340 plus in the minors when he was called up and he's raking with the Twins. I had never heard of this kid before but he could be a huge name to remember.
He doesn't have any power, but it looks like this guy really has a plus hitting tool.
So I wanted to give him his props.
And the final guy I want to talk about is Yordan Alvarez, the guy who is DHing in Houston. This kid looks like he's going to be a monster at the plate for the foreseeable future. He has power, a strong hit tool, and a solid understanding of the strike zone. He's a middle of the order masher that fits in with the Astros lineup who last time I checked have 7 guys with an OPS of .898 or higher. When I think of Springer/Brantley/Altuve/Bregman/Alvarez/Correa/Gurriel as the top 7 in the order to go with a front four of Verlander, Greinke, Cole, and Miley and a solid pen headed by Osuna, Pressley, and Harris - this is a team that should be back in the World Series. The Yankees are a legit threat to win the Series and have the best record - but the overall talent is something that NY isn't as strong in - their pitching is not as good and Alvarez should help the Astros catch up in the offense dept to the Yankees. This kid is a difference maker with the bat.
I just wanted to talk about four guys I had never heard of before that are impressing the hell out of me. Wished any of them played for the Red Sox! Wish the Sox had anybody resembling these guys coming through the minors. Wow, these four players are impressive.
Now that I think about it some more the Red Sox do have one of these guys - and he's only 22 but he's been in the majors for awhile - Devers, but still, I'm in awe of what these rookies are doing right now.

Yaz. 3 dingers. Exciting for the kid. Awesome!! I have tickets to one other game this season and it's against the Giants. Was hoping that it would be a clinching type game for the Sox. Doubtful now, but it's an opportunity to cheer on Yaz Jr. Jr. I remember I couldn't wait to see Yaz, the great #8, play when I went to my first game - and he got injured running into the Wall the day before. It'll be great to come full circle and see his grandson play. Hopefully the Sox have a righty so that Mike Yaz is playing. I'm going to root for him, and I gotta say, in some shots of him hitting HRs, I do see some resemblance to his grandfather when he was younger. I'm really happy for Mike Yaz Jr. and hope that one day, some way he winds up on the Red Sox and that his grandpa is around to see it and enjoy it.

It's great and all, but is it really that special to have 3 of the 12 HR hit in one game? Not nearly as special as it used to be. The baseball is a travesty.
