After a disappointing spring training, my fringe five candidate Cole Sturgeon is up to 289/341/421. If the Sox need an outfielder in the near future, I wonder if they will bypass Travis and add Cole to the 40 man with two open spots.

Eduardo Nunez playing for the PawSox. He's DH and has yet to make an error.
Also of note at Salem, since the activation of Marco Hernandez, Fitzgerald has been playing 2B.

I’m at the Sea Dogs game in Hartford and here is a first inning recap.
Netzer hit a HR off a LHP to RF that left the stadium.
Darwinzon sat mid 90’s with his FB but his stuff was all over the place. He walked the first batter of the game and ball 4 was at the batters head. After a hit and a few walks, Hernandez gave up a grand slam. Joe Oliver took him out after recording only two outs.

Pedro Castellanos is getting the hang of Hi-A pitching. After starting off slowly, he’s 16-40 (.400) over his last 11 games. HR power still isn’t there, but he’s second in the system with 7 doubles. Strikeout percentage is under 14.

Demchak with his first appearance in the SAL. It's not going so well.

Well, Hernandez since joining Salem has gone: 2B/off (doubleheader) DH (off day) 2B SS off SS DH SS Fitzgerald has played 2B the three games where Hernandez has played short, but he's played short in the other games. I wouldn't make anything of it - just a way to keep him in the lineup while they're trying to get Hernandez work at short most likely.

True and Marco probably has the priority but versatility there doesn't hurt, there's pretty much no path to Boston at SS. Mata's final line: 5.0IP 2H 2R 0ER 1BB 4K 77p/54s 9GO/2FO

Dude from Brown homers off of Salem and it doesn't get a Hatfield mention? Figured that'd be like catnip.

Jarren Duran back over .400 with the 2b and 3b. Guy’s having himself a year. Nice start by Mata, too, who keeps on rolling.

He's now also over 1.000 .404/.465/.562/1.026 I posted elsewhere on this, but Duran and Ellsbury were both born in Sept, so they’re in high-A at essentially the same age. Ellsbury went .299/.379/.418 that year, with 25 SB (in a half-season, promoted to AA with 281 PA; he had nearly identical AA numbers, slightly better actually...135 wRC+ vs 122). Ells had BABIPs of .324 and .339 that year at two levels...Duran is at .500 🤣🤣 right now this season, with a career mark around .440. After 400 career PA, and Ells having similar speed but being 100 points lower, it’s not all speed. Something else is going on, but boy is it fun to watch.
