Oscar Hernandez with a two-run homer... PawSox had been outscored 12-1 in the doubleheader up to that point.
Every time I start get a little down on Pedro Castellanos he goes on a three-week tear where he hits .400. Every time I start to get excited about him he goes six weeks without an extra-base hit.

Duran led off with a line drive single to center, stole second, then was thrown out at third on a ground ball to SS.

Not so great 5th for Crawford:
Devin Hairston strikes out swinging. Joantgel Segovia singles on a soft line drive to right fielder Jagger Rusconi. Throwing error by pitcher Kutter Crawford on the pickoff attempt. Ryan Aguilar lines out to left fielder Victor Acosta. Mound Visit. Payton Henry walks. Mario Feliciano walks. Joantgel Segovia to 3rd. Payton Henry to 2nd. Mound Visit. Rob Henry singles on a line drive to center fielder Jarren Duran. Joantgel Segovia scores. Payton Henry scores. Mario Feliciano to 3rd. Mound Visit. Pitching Change: Eduard Bazardo replaces Kutter Crawford. Wild pitch by pitcher Eduard Bazardo. Rob Henry to 2nd. Pat McInerney called out on strikes.
Duran in a slump: line drive single to center/SB lineout to second base strikeout swinging.

Duran a ho-hum 1-3, tho he has a SB and whiffed once, so his BABIP for tonight is only .500. Which means he *lowered* his season BABIP from .513. He needs another hit. I wanna see him get up to .600, even if just a moment. That would really be something for a guy with over 100 PA. 12/15 in SB now, looking like he could be a 50 SB guy in MLB as a starter. He’s in Ellsbury country. Arm’s not great so maybe he continues the Damon-Ellsbury-Coco tradition of fast, noodle-armed CFs the Sox covet. Tho I can’t imagine anyone having a worse OF arm than Damon.

Ellington reverted to his wildness ways, giving up a run on no hits and 3 walks in two innings, with 4 K. Got another wild one in AAA, as Josh Taylor pitches well again, but walked a batter and is around 6 per 9 (7 walks in 11 2/3, but with 18 whiffs and just 8 hits). Taylor hasn’t been so wild historically, so they might have something there. Be nice to have a K-minded lefty in the MLB ‘pen.

Duran's arm isn't as bad as Damon, Ellsbury or Crisp. It's not great but it's definitely better. The throw he made 2 games ago to nail a runner wasn't deep but it was on a line and accurate.

Good to hear, I’ve seen it described as passable (40-45), so if the routes/jumps are solid he could be an above-average defender with his speed. I’m honestly still shocked that Johnny Damon managed to play baseball his whole life and still throw the way he did. He did the elbow-lever thing you see in your average toddler, high-maintenance nail-extensions girlfriend, or emo gamer boy with a get-out-of-gym-free card. I would chuckle every. single. time.

Oh just say it. He threw like a girl. Well, I had a gf who was 5’2” about 118#, former prom queen (biomed PhD and a helluva cook, too), who had an absolute cannon. She was a softball player, INF, and probably threw a baseball around 75. We’d play long-toss catch from 120’ and she was on a line every time, never short. So from personal experience I can’t go so general. FWIW, she loved the cages, and completely fixed my swing. Let’s just say as far as exes go, I pulled a Canseco/Ozuna-level error on that one.

Duran single. Line drive to center. slump over. Imagine the Sox lineup with Duran instead of JBJ. With the K to end the game, that BABIP keeps creeping up! I love it, this Duran watch has become my favorite part of the season.

I'll watch after the Sox game but of interest, in the last 2 days he's pretty much either struck out swinging or made contact on a line. No popups or flyballs and only 1 on the ground. All of the hits have been classified as linedrives.

I'm starting to wonder if we're going to see him in Boston this year. JBJ's swing looks like the total mess it looks like when he's really awful and not just unlucky.
