So Pedro Castellanos's recent resurgence seems to be largely due to the fact that he's basically stopped striking out (with a sprinkle of BABIP magic). In his last 18 games (78 PA) he has struck out four times, during which time he's hit .362/.410/.493 with nine doubles. In his last 11 games (43 PA) he has just two strikeouts, and he's hitting .395/.438/.512 with five doubles.

Consider this my formal plea for more posters to give us their first hand observations when they go any game at any level of the system. The formal write-ups we get from the staff are great, but I have to think more of us are at minor league games and don't tell the message board what we saw. Most of us don't have highly developed scouting skills. so who cares if you just tell us something like, "Tristan Casas was mashing. He only had one hit, but the outs he made had hard contact including one opposite field line drive."
When you go to a game, tell us what you took away from it. Information about prospects outside the top twenty is gold. But frankly, I'd be happy if you only told me that you got a better hot dog than the last time you were at that park. Just tell us you went and maybe somebody will have a question for you about what you saw.

Duran came into the game with a 1.21 RP. (R & RBI-HR, an old Bill James thing) which is pretty much a cog in the chain measurement but shows the impact of a player on the team runs. 1.21 is pretty substantial (Mookie was 1.30 in his MVP year in a substantially better chain).
He's at it again tonight at 2/2 with 2 ground singles to the pull side, a SB (3rd) and 2 runs scored.

Kutter done for the night. Great line: 6.1IP 2H 1R 1ER 1BB 11K 87P / 59S 3GO / 1FO 1 HBP (last batter he faced) He’s becoming marginally intriguing. He’s a little old for the level but seems like a promotion waiting to happen. He’s one guy I’d love a firsthand account on.

Feltman 25 pitches/ 8 strikes. Of the three outs he got, only one was a batter who wasn't making an out on purpose: one batter sacrifice bunted, and there was a line drive double play to Dalbec with the bases loaded. He got credited with the win. Feltman now has 9 walks in his last three innings.

Dalbec has cut his strikeout rate from 37 percent last year to 26 percent this year. Wasn't that the main thing everyone was looking for this off-season?

Dalbec has cut his strikeout rate from 37 percent last year to 26 percent this year. Wasn't that the main thing everyone was looking for this off-season? He's walking a ton too. I think you couldn't ask for more growth in the K department than he's shown. His ISO is down significantly, and his BABIP is too. With his raw pwer, it seems like only a matter of time before that changes. If he can hold his K% to 26% while his ISO climbs back up, then it will be a huge year for him.

The problem is that he's made up for a 25% drop in strikeouts by doubling his pop-ups. He needs to get his quality of contact back, while also keeping his strikeout rate around where it is now.
