Let's see if Reyes can dominate for a 3rd start in a row. I'm starting to think that he could be the real deal. Some Kyle Hendricks type of pitcher.

Hendricks was much better at keeping the ball on the ground than Reyes has been though. I personally don't think Reyes' contact profile fits well in the AL East even if he does ride his control/command all the way to the big leagues. Maybe he'll be the next Sox prospect turned Oakland stud.

I'm not saying he can be a carbon copy of the actual Hendricks but a lite version of him. He's been pretty amazing lately and keep in mind that he always suppressed his HR/FB% through all his stops in the Minors. For someone who lives in the strike zone so much, that's some type of skill to me.

Reyes started off pretty poorly in Portland and looked like the stuff that played in Salem wasn't going to get it done in AA but he has turned it around. If he keeps it up he becomes more and more interesting.

Brainer Bonaci seems to have some speed. Still 16 years old and has 5 SBs in four games. Also is 7/16 with 3 walks and only one strikeout. SSSS and DSL ball, but someone to keep an eye on. $290,000 bonus last year.

Denyi Reyes threw 39 pitches in the 1st. They usually don't let pitchers come back out after that.

I'm sorry, I'll show my self out

Jarren Duran is already using the Maine Monster lol
He also Ichiro'd a grounder to SS. If I was in the US, watching this cat would be a priority.

Dalbec with a "smart" double play. Bases loaded (Ellington with command issues), line drive to Dalbec. Instead of catching it on a line, he short hopped it for a 5-2-5 double play.

Duran should have had a 4 pitch walk in the 9th instead of a ground out but the 3rd pitch was called a check swing strike by the home plate ump. Wasn't even close. He also had a seriously bad high strike called on him in his previous AB. On the other hand he struck out on a FB that was way out of the zone, high and outside.
2 games in, Duran is pretty much normalized:
.375/.444/.500/.944 BABIP .500 K rate swinging 22% K rate looking 0% BB rate 11%
Ahead: 3R in 2 games Behind 0SB 1CS (picked off second)

He’s already BABIPing higher than his .487 at Salem!!! Seriously, though...I’m gonna get up to Portland and catch a game, cuz I really don’t think he’ll be there for the rest of the season. And if he goes to AAA (Pawtucket is closer to me anyway), I have a feeling the juicy ball is going to be real good for his XB pop.

Forgot to mention, in Hartford he had a 5 pitch inning in the 5th. Also in Hartford, the first 3 batters made good contact against him but made hard outs right at fielders so maybe he needs an inning to fine tune his control.
