Good to see Aaron Perry coming back and being effective immediately
Granted it’s the GCL but still...it hasn’t been an easy road for him

Devon Fisher is in the GCL on a rehab assignment. Lots of guys getting healthy. Anyelo Gomez, Devon Fisher, Algenis Martinez, Austin Rei, Jeremy Bleich.

Mata lets up one run in the first inning, but the curveball looked pretty good. Was sitting around 96 according to the announcer.

Mata goes scoreless in the second. Got a nice strikeout looking on a curveball, but also walked a guy. Don’t know if it’s a mechanical thing, but whenever I watch Mata he seems to miss outside a lot. The ball just seems to float off the edge. There’s a lot of movement on his pitches.

Chatham makes an excellent over the shoulder grab to save a run in the fifth inning. Mata still sitting at 96.

I would assume that's it for Mata. It's remarkable that he made his first AA start look like one of his ordinary High A starts: a bunch of singles, a very acceptable number of walks, Ks numbers close to IP and an elite number of ground balls. Add: And no homers of course.

Chatham got hurt on the bases early in the game, I think it was the 1st inning. I forget what exactly happened, but it's his knee.

Chatham makes an excellent over the shoulder grab to save a run in the fifth inning. Mata still sitting at 96. Sitting mid-90s, touching 98 is even harder than advertised. I thought he might continue to add a little velo, but that’s really impressive. Great start to his AA career today. Love to see him keep it up and finish the year strong. System needs good news; Houck has been better lately but Darwinzon’s control remains an enigma. And Duran has gone ice-cold with zero power and a significant K bump at Portland. Mata’s establishing himself as THE guy to watch in the second half.

Yusniel Padron-Artilles sure has turned it on since his demotion (It's also not out of the realm that it was made to give him more innings).

Yusniel Padron-Artilles: 6IP 2H 0ER 1BB 10K against a pretty solid lineup. Looks like he was pounding the strike zone too (84 pitches, 63 strikes).

I’m just going to say it...mata is untouchable right now. MLB and BA will soon recognize him nationally
