They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). My prediction (worthless, of course!) - ERod pitches tonight so the Red Sox offense will score a bunch. Easy win. Saturday, good Rick P shows up - more big offense, another relatively easy win Sunday, good David Price shows up, another big O game, another easy win, 4 game streak going into the AS break.
Take it to the bank (yeah, sure)!

Given how bad the Tigers are and how bad the starting pitchers that the Red Sox offense will be facing are, I'd be kind of disappointed with anything less than a sweep. The Tigers are awful.

So Núñez is starting at 2B tonight. Does anyone ever ask Cora why he does this? He's hitting .213 against lefties. For his career he has a reverse split - .259 vs. lefties, .284 vs. righties (wOBA of .299 vs. .313 if you prefer). His defense is atrocious at 2B.
Cora consistently takes the worst player on the team, plays him at a position that's unnatural for him, and has him hit against pitchers he's worse at hitting. Why why why.
ADD: Brock Holt career vs. lefties: .315 wOBA. Marco Hernandez career vs. lefties: .307 wOBA. Again, Nunez career vs. lefties: .299 wOBA And Nunex this season vs. lefties: .257 wOBA

Have trouble believing that.

I think it’s more likely that he’s Cora’s guy than Dombrowski’s guy He must be pretty incredible in the clubhouse to offset his play, that’s all I have to say about him

As for the "clubhouse guy" thing - the nice thing about the clubhouse is that you don't need to actually play in the games to hang out in there. If his intangibles are really worth a roster spot (they're not) then just let him disperse his good vibes or whatever from the bench.

If his intangibles are really worth a roster spot (they're not) then just let him disperse his good vibes or whatever from the bench. Hanley Ramirez is a bad example. The reason why he wanted to get rid of Hanley is because he couldn't give him enough playing time, hence he favors veterans no matter what.

He's been a different hitter since May. He's been incredible. You don't say What? Yeah, it's the truth. He's hit 12 homeruns since the beginning of May. I've never been critical of Devers the hitter.

Tell me Devers doesn't have at least a 60 arm. He showed it off for Goodrum's ground out to deep 3rd in the 5th inning (giving it some context since no one is here).
Nunez actually made a very good play vs. Mercer. The play against Cabrera earlier that the announcers are talking about actually wasn't a very good play. It's an error if he doesn't make it.

Nunez 2 outstading defensive plays and a hit. Must be like fingernails on a chalkboard this board.

he did, but it was on a low and maybe outside pitch that no one has any business homering on...he just flicked it out the other way like it's nothing
