On a night we score 16 runs thru 6 innings we are gonna need 4 innings from an already exhausted bullpen. Bad bad job porcello

Bad bad job porcello [br It's hard to imagine, based on the recent performances of Price and Porcello, that this rotation can lead this team into the playoffs. Price has given the team less than 40 innings in his last 8 starts and Porcello implodes at least one inning every game in the last 3 He has a 13 run lead heading into his 5th inning and can't pitch 6 innings.

I am hoping we see Chris Davis on the mound in 9th.
Marco is our emergency catcher. Andrew Cashner played LF once for SD. He only pitched 215 innings in minors. MLB batting: 32 for 203 with 15 sacrifice bunt.
Josh Taylor was 5 for 23 batting in milb. Brian Johnson is our best talent for being a two-way player.
Wilkerson, age 27, hasn't pitched since high school. If then. He now has 3 innings on the year. He never played CF before this year. He has now played pro ball at 8 positions. Not catcher. Beats Brock Holt.

Darwinzon could be a good closer someday in my opinion

benny swinging K looking foolish against a position player who's just lobbing it up there; maybe he needs glasses
also, the fact that a position player throwing the ball 50mph can retire 6 of 8 hitters he faced shows you how random baseball is.

Welp. that was a whooping. gotta win tomorrow....Porcello's line looks pretty awful. Lots of positives, including a nice Darwinzon inning, with Benny and Porcello standing out as negatives. Hoping they can finally - finally! - get some consistency.

Sure these happen. But so often this year? I can't find much logic in this season so far Last year was a season for the ages, 119 wins a WS ring. IIRC second best season in Sox history, the best season was in the Ruth era. Point being there was bound to be regression. Mookie 10 WAR season (there have only been like 22 of those history), JDM was a machine at the plate, they had a fairly reliable closer, most importantly they were a hungry team. They got away with Brian Johnson and the like starting and winning games last year, this year that strategy has ground a patch work bullpen into powder. I could go on but you see where this headed. My bad, there have actually been sixty 10 plus WAR seasons. Still quite a feat even though Trout makes it look easy.

Well...what to do? Scrub hitters on a shit team are kicking our asses. All you rosy optimists...what says you? Well I guess I'd start by pointing out that we won this game by 11 runs.

Sure did - game threads are fun, but hindsight of course will always be used. Game day threads are such fun because we all get the ability to react at the moment. Like I said - great win, but persistent issues - Porcello (11 plus ERA in last handful of starts), and Benny. Let's see what today brings.
