I mean, you can certainly feel however you want about the reorganization, but politicians being against it is a no-brainer whether or not it's a horrible, selfish thing. It looks like a shot by a huge entity against small-town America, whether or not that's actually true*, so of course they've all taken this position. This is easy politics to be in that side of it. Doesn't move the ball at all for me.
* - The Lowell Spinners, for instance, were owned by a conglomerate based in Iowa that owned 3 other minor league franchises across the country (and used to own another before, get this, milb took the franchise away and moved out across the country - yes, there's precedent for this). I feel terrible for folks with the team that lost jobs, but honestly, there weren't as many as you might think left at the end with full-time, salaried, non-entry-level positions with the Spinners.

I think this proves my point. Sanders has been 100% true all along. You look at the fact that these other business owners have been huge failures. That's the reason why these small market Milb teams have gone under. It's sad.
I mean 2020 was a difficult year, but baseball should have handled it a lot better.

To be fair, these small markets would be unable to support a team without the finances of the MLB, as their revenues would never cover the cost of running a team. Vermont for example only draws about 80K fans per year.
Given that context, I believe MLB has every right to decide how many teams they want to support. If they only want to financially support 120 teams, so be it.
With that said, I understand why Sanders is jumping in, Vermont lost a team and I'm sure that's frustrating for his constituents. So he should be voicing their concerns.

Thought this was important, tho wouldn't consider radical. fangraphs had this tidbit in the Sunday notes column regarding pay for miLB kids this coming season:

Thought this was important, tho wouldn't consider radical. fangraphs had this tidbit in the Sunday notes column regarding pay for miLB kids this coming season: About tracks with what was reported early on. Hopefully they're also implementing everything that had been reported regarding clubhouse dues tipping the clubbie, etc. that'll make the money go further. That said, that's still not even close to where it needs to be. That's still $15k/yr for AAA players. Grown-ass men at that point. They also need to commit to paying minor leaguers as though there was a full season given that they're likely to come in 4-6 weeks later this year.

It seems like Dave Heller has intentionally included outdated statistics and information from Drew Webber's tenure as owner of the Spinners whenever he speaks with the media.

Relevant to that, Toronto is going to play in Dunedin to start the year, presumably sending the kids north (raw deal).

Disappointed that Greenville hosts Brooklyn but won't play an away series there.

Salem will be coming to me for 18 games this year (assuming fans are permitted). After no minor league baseball last year, that’s the best news I’ve gotten in months.

Do we think anyone is going to consider 6-man rotations given the schedules? At least to start the season it might make sense since so few guys actually played last year. But it's probably not ideal from a development perspective.

But it's probably not ideal from a development perspective. Was thinking about this with Ian tonight. No, I don't think so, because that means guys are only going to pitch once a week. They need more reps than that, even when building back up from last year. If you think about it, with a five-man rotation, you're pitching Tuesday-Sunday-Saturday-Friday-Thursday-Wednesday-Tuesday-Sunday, so you're getting an extra day of rest already in 5 out of every 6 starts. Even if you get a rainout you won't need a spot starter for the double-header though, because you can pitch Wednesday's starter in Thursday's double-header and he'll still get normal rest before his next start. I think we could see a lot of finagling using piggybacking and whatnot to keep guys on schedule too.

As for the schedules, I got hosed. Portland doesn't come to Bowie which is super close to me. Greenville goes to Aberdeen (which is still super far for me - I'll probably only go if they've got a stud I need to see like if Gilberto is mashing or the #4 pick is already there or something) once, in the last series of the year. Salem will be in Fredericksburg a bunch but that's still an hour with no traffic.
Woof.

For me in Chapel Hill, Salem does not come to Zebulon (Carolina Mudcats) 50 minutes away but does come to Fayetteville (90 -120 minutes South). I can still see Greenville in Greensboro NC and Winston-Salem (the Dash, the only team named after punctuation). WooSox will not come South this year to play Durham.
