Unbelievable. Utterly embarrassing.

The thing is, it might be a sorta-correct call in the rulebook, so it's going to be hard to overturn. But you can't make that call there. Unbelievable. Yeah, and then look at what Manny Machado did when stomping on 1B feet 3 times.

So replay is a better system than having none - a call like the Trea Turner play in the first, which is very, very close, got overturned. But something like this, where judgment is more important than "accuracy," I feel like the old thing where umpires would convene and get their act together would've gotten this right like they did with A-Rod/Arroyo in '04.

That one was 92 mph, 353 feet, LOL Little League park.
I think they re-juiced the ball for the WS.

More proof that hitting home runs solves all problems.

You can't toss Martinez there for anything short of, like, threatening the umpires family or something on that sort of personal level that would also get him suspended.

Just saw that no team has won the world series by winning all 4 of their games on the road. That might change. Kinda a cool stat.

Looks like the momentum has changed. I think this game still has a ways to go. I think the problems will start when Strasburg is out of the game. So far, this has been the most enjoyable game of the series - one where you're not really sure who will win (I still think Houston) - but it still up in the air. And oh yeah - Soto is quite good, isn't he? So then, not tonight? Strasburg is a postseason stud, at least inasmuch as that exists.

If the Nationals win it, Strasburg is the MVP. That was an epic game.
And in the post-game, he knew the Astros found him tipping in the first inning.

I guess they were right in the end, but it's just too much pressure to live up to. Well, in fairness he was kind of a butterball as a college freshman and only pitched out of the ‘pen. The buzz started at 19 and then, yeah, his junior year he got the “best pitching prospect ever” label, which was so unfair. Didn’t help he whiffed 14 his first game. But yeah, it’s essentially impossible to live up to that hype. He’d have to have become RJ or Pedro or Kershaw. Who knows? He might still have a run of dominance in him like Scherzer has. I hope so. I DO know I’m a big fan, especially after this game. I detest the Houston organization (even if I like a number of players, Bregman most certainly NOT one of them). And I really like Washington, especially the starters, Turner, Rendon, Soto (now that he’s toned down the jimmytugging)...what a treat it would be to see them win, and do so by winning 4 games in Houston.

I've learned to hate Houston a lot more than I did a few weeks ago. They're getting right up there with the Ravens, Giants, Cowboys and Yankees.

Papi just declined to mention ARod's runner interference in 2004 even when he got a total softball to hit. I laughed a little.

Pretty sure 4 games was the previous limit, including ‘86. Road team won the first five in 1996 and 1906. White Sox and Yankees both finished up with Game 6 wins at home then, though.
