Sounds potentially bad for James Paxton. I have mixed feelings. Much as I hate the Yankees, I actually really like watching him when he’s well (and preferably on a different team). I hate seeing really talented pitchers spend their careers going injury to injury. I don't like seeing any injuries, no matter what team. (Osuna/Chapman/Wright) excepted. Bryan Hoch @bryanhoch · 10h James Paxton is having an MRI. He felt discomfort in his forearm/elbow. . . . New York Yankees @yankees · 13h INF Gleyber Torres left today's game with a tight left hamstring and is being evaluated.

Lemahieu, Stanton, Judge, Severino, Britton, Kahnle on the IL for the Yankees right now. Paxton and Torres potentially heading there.
I'm sure they're not terribly saddened by three days off they're getting because of the Mets COVID cases.

I'm sure they're not terribly saddened by three days off they're getting because of the Mets COVID cases. I don’t relish seeing this, because having stars sit is bad for the game. But it is also a solid warning: Stanton, Britton, and Paxton *at least* are strong bets for not making it through a season. Building around guys who are routinely injured is not a great plan.

The Padres know the best way to answer critics: Jeremy Frank @mlbrandomstats · 4h The Padres are the first team in MLB history with a grand slam in four consecutive games Looks like these stodgy baseball fans that were anti-Tatis have to face the conflicting ideology from their two favorite BS baseball ideas: the "unwritten rules" and the "baseball gods". The unwritten rules say no but the baseball gods are sending a message that it's chill by them..

Strasburg will have season ending hand surgery.
That likely turns them into sellers.

I think this is extremely cool and a great idea but a ball is going to hit one at some point and they'll be banned. Very pessimistic thinking but seems likely. Has a punt ever hit one at a football game?

Has a punt ever hit one at a football game? It appears that the lines were all in foul territory over the stands, no? This isn't one of the 3-D movement ones they have in the NFL.

Re-watching it and it appears you're right that it's in foul territory, not sure about over the stands. I guess I was thinking the mechanics were similar to how it is in football stadiums where the wires come in from the four points. Seems pretty harmless the way they have it although if it is over the field in foul territory there's always a chance. Should be fine, though.

I'd presume it's well into foul territory and they just zoom in when it looks like it's moving out over the field.

Depending on location, these could likely be annoying to live fans, if live fans were allowed in the stadium.

only one step from a drone. It could hover over field, behind home, etc. Fo the one in a thousand games where it gets in the way, its like the rings in Tampa -- some ground rule dead ball. But it will give great perspective over the shoulder of the ump or behind the pitcher.

Mookie looking good for NL MVP. I am sure he will be an anchor soon, though.

Sterling Sharp(Marlins) & Cody Reed(Reds) DFAed today.
Sharp is a Rule 5 guy and Reed a lefty reliever.

Lucas Giolito with a no hitter. Now there's a name that makes me feel old! 25 years old too, Lucas has some great stuff.

Pivetta was working out with Giolito in the offseason trying to pick things up from him...
