I forget, how many rings does Friedman have ? I think Friedman is the best GM out there (and I think Theo isn't too far off), but I think he might have gotten in his own way if he did interfere with Dave Roberts managing them in the Series in 2018. If I were a Dodgers fan I'd wonder why my 2 best relievers Urias and Baez weren't available in Game 4 of the 2018 World Series, particularly Urias with all those lefties the Sox had on the bench. The bench contained Moreland, Devers, and JBJ. Only righty was Kinsler. The rest was Leon and Swihart. How does Urias not pitch in that game? Well, Roberts was under orders not to use him even though he was hardly abused in the series at that point. When the Dodgers blew that game, they were demoralized and had no chance in Game 5. They most likely would have had their rings in 2017 if the Astros weren't in a cheating league of their own. The Dodgers, as it was, pushed them to Game 7 of the Series. I suspect Friedman will get his rings. To use an old school comparison, it would be like saying that Chuck Tanner and Earl Weaver were equals as managers because they both had a World Series ring, or you could say Cito Gaston was the superior manager to Weaver because he has 2 rings to Weaver's one ring. But you know damn well that Earl Weaver was one of the best managers in the game's history and Tanner and Gaston weren't. So while I get the argument and you can apply that to Friedman, I still think he's the best GM in the game.

My theory continues to be that Dombrowski thought he would be under the tax limit in 2019 but he just screwed up the calculations and that's why he was fired. You realize they were over by $34 million, right? That's not quite a rounding error. Maybe he had Paul Krugman doing the team finances??
